Do I need to register my car before entering the fast lane on the two tolls between Cork and Dublin? How do I go about getting this done??

I am sick tired of having to get 3.60 exactly ready for every journey!

You need to get a toll tag of e flow or some other company that do them. This site shows most of them and the options of payment etc.

Credit card also an option. I just leave mine out and ready, handier than change. Though you do still have to stop.

I take it you mean the express lane on the toll (as opposed to the right lane on the road).

A small waring on the tags, some of the companies (I use easy trip) have admin charges and also credit card fees on top ups.

However if you use the M50 once a month the tag discount pays for the admin costs of the tag. Besides €1 every month is worth the hassle of not having to keep change for the tolls between Galway & Dublin, not to mention having to remember to pay for the M50 toll.

Credit card can be used in the "Exact Change" lanes, at least on the M4 and M6 Tolls. Card in, card out and off you go. No PIN verification needed. Receipts available and no surcharges.

It doesn't make sense to use 'overtaking lane' in this context, I think it's usually labelled 'Express Lane'.
