Got a second hand Sky HD box - Will doing a new install and call back from the hidden installers menu pair my viewing card to the Sky HD box or will I need to call sky? I read on another forum that this is possible,

Hit services the 0,0,1 then select , got to new install , it will do a quick channel scan then do the callback.

Sound and that will pair the card without me needing to call sky?

No, you'll still need to call them and have it paired up.

confused here - if you do the secret installers thing, and do a new installation - what does the callback actually do?

Simply call sky with viewing card number and serial number of the box, they'll pair the card for you then and there.

hi, sorry to hi-jack the thread but I have a similar question.
I got a HD Sky + from someone who does not need it anymore to replace my non HD box.
Plugged it in with my card and the Sky+ functionalty does not seem to work, (pause, rewind etc.).
Is there something more I have to do to match the card to the box, as the OP is doing ?

Again sorry for hi-jacking the thread,

Ye just ring Sky, tell them you've gotten a HD box and would like to have your card paired up and the recording function activated.

I just looked this up on the Sky website. Appears as though what I had originally read was correct and that there is no need to call Sky to pair the box. This can all be done thru the box once you have an active phoneline to do the callback after connecting to "my account" and selecting activate self-install.
