Twilight sedation costs in Ireland.

I usually go to a dentist in Northern Ireland who provides twilight sedation as I'm absolutely terrified of needles.

I have recently heard that there are a number of dentists in the Dublin area who provide this twilight sedation but wondered about the costs.
Has anyone here been to a dentist in Dublin who's availed of this and what was the approximate cost.

It's normally about £130 - £150 for sedation and a filling in the North and I'd be grateful for any information on prices south of the border or for PM's of any recommendations for dentists providing the service as I urgently need a filling done.

Do you usually have gas sedation or IV sedation?

I normally have IV sedation and find it fantastic as I have no memory of the procedure afterwards.
I had gas many years ago which knocked me out and remember being sick afterwards which wasn't so nice.

Thanks Fitzgeme, I've googled dentists in Dublin that provide the service but there was nothing about the cost so I was wondering if the boardsies could provide any info.

Maybe I'll just ring around for prices, or better still, go back to my dentist in Newry.

you looking at the cost of the procedure + the cost of sedation which is usually around 100-200 euro depending.

Thanks for your help. So far I've been quoted between E180 and E250 for the sedation alone so I'll be going back up north again I'm afraid.

you will easily spend as much up north given a day off work, exchange rate, fuel up and down and all the extras they do so like to tack on. The best way to save money is to go to a dentist who is good with nervous patients and can wean you off the need for sedation for simple procedures like fillings. I am sympathetic to phobic patients however really the best thing is to overcome your fears and stop the reliance to sedatives for routine treatment.
