    Was up ages last night playing TF2 with my friend, good craic. Was playing on the DCU Games SOC server so my ping was excellent.

    Hmmm, last night people were complaining that the DCU Gamessoc TF2 server was full of outsiders and they couldn't get on >.>

    Their own fault for not reserving slots tbh, but still I lol'd

    All of the servers I regular have been clogged up lately with free players and people that used to play who have now come back from the dead.

    Last time I was on DCU GameSoc's server there seemed to be plenty of people playing from outside of Ireland. Maybe DCU has a Russian campus. Good on them for not having slot reservations though, getting kicked due to a slot reservation is a kick in the balls.

    NO STEAM NOT A SALE. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ;_;

    Just bought L4D and L4D2 for 20 quid. I fear this is only the begining :/

    Good purchase tbh. Although, with incoming DLC, a fair share of the L4D content (well, No Mercy and [soon] Blood Harvest) will be playable in L4D2. Then again... being able to play the original does mean you never have to see/hear Rochelle, which is always a good thing :pac:

    I'm gonna pick up the GTA Complete Collection (26.50 or something, but I've thoroughly enjoyed all the GTA games [except IV], so I reckon it's well worth it :)). Gotta start working on the Prize Booth stuff - I've got the Killing Floor character pack so far, now I've gotta work on getting the DoW2: Retribution helmet and, possibly, the Magicka DLC. TF2 shades might be a possibility if I'm able to get some tickets beyond what's required for the stuff I've already mentioned.

    Out of curiosity, what do you guys have on your Wishlist for the Grand Prize Giveaway? I've got...
    • Red Faction: Armageddon
    • Warhammer 40k: Space Marine
    • Saints Row: The Third
    • Dead Island
    • Heroes of Might & Magic VI
    • Deus Ex: Human Revolution
    • Alice: Madness Returns
    • The Witcher 2
    • FEAR 3
    • Dungeon Siege III
    Kinda hastily threw together the list when a friend informed me of the grand prize, didn't really know what to put down so I went for expensive stuff that sounds/looks good :D

    Also, relevant material...

    Playing through Legend of Dragoon, amazing game.

    The problem with that their Steam sale is cheap purchases look suspicious as **** on credit cards apparently, especially when done daily.

    That and the whole not bothering to play most of the games I own. I should probably shy away from buying any of those cheap indies games, despite what people say most of them are actually boring.

    My friend got the entire Command & Conquer set recently for only 10 euro. Madness.

    The Valve Complete Pack is such a generous offer! I stumbled across it while looking for a copy of Portal 2 a few days ago, and had to snap it up. Every game Valve has ever made - including Portal 2 - for less than the price I would usually have had to pay for Portal 2 by itself! On a related note, goodness do I love Portal 2.

    wasn't too big a fan of Portal 2...just didn't have the same impact as the first one...felt about as short as well :/

    Just finished Portal 2, the ending was fantastic! I suspect someone at Valve is a Neil Gaiman fan

    Yay, Grand Theft Auto Complete Collection. That should keep me busy for a while. I wonder if there is a go-kart somewhere in the first city in San Andreas... :D

    Better say goodbye to that 40GB of hard disk space now... ;_;

    As soon as I get my laptop back I can finally play TF2 :)

    Does anyone know if making the game free has affected it, as in unwanted players (noobs?) entering servers and causing a fuss?

    From my experience hasnt been a problem. Actually alot of fun with a diverse range of players.

    Butterfly Knife lodged in the spine > Heavy... :P

    Personally, I don't particularly like playing the Heavy. Probably because I don't like being the go-to guy for an Uber, since I'm not all that good at making the best of them.
    I'm a Medic/Soldier man myself
    Same as myself (although, I play a fair share of Demoman as well). It's always fun to play the classes that are right at the frontlines, makes things much more enjoyable IMO.

    Also, hooray! The L4D Dead Air map is being released early for L4D2. I hope VALVe don't wait too long with Blood Harvest though, since they had a poll up about the suitability of a certain section of the campaign due to the additional Infected types.

    Scout's is way better for entertainment value tbh.

    I despise anyone who's good at spy. Like they just reak havoc on EVERYONE. >_>

    This Steam sale is killing me ;_;

    There's actually a plugin that hosts of private servers can use to immediately kick free-to-play players from their TF2 game.

    That's a bit extreme tbh...

    Most servers don't run it thankfully so it's not a big issue. I wouldn't call it extreme, it seems like a pragmatic solution for those servers whose communities mostly want a team-oriented game with players of a good degree of competence. Teamwork will normally go down the toilet when you have a large number of inexperienced players in the server which a lot of people don't find any fun.

    Yeah I agree with you, I just don't like elitism in games.

    Decided to buy Red Faction: Armageddon yesterday
    Red-Faction-Armageddon-Game.jpg
    Such an incredibly fun game. While I do miss the freeform gameplay (and competitive multiplayer) of Red Faction Guerrilla, I think it plays better as a shooter and the improvements to the destruction engine are fantastic - collapsing a building on enemies has, IMO, never been more satisfying (although, throwing said building at enemies does come very close :pac:)
