How about Galway Saturday night August the 13th meeting in O'Connells beer garden at 8pm, gives you all plenty of time to find accomadation and sort money out.

Before August if possible. I'm emigrating and want to get Beers in first if I can.

If I come all the way, can I have extra alcohol for the regular price please? :) And a little umbrella that shall then make its way into my hair, and later most likely my eye?

I know I'm a bit anti Galway on account of I want it in Kilkenny but with the races on this month is accommodation over there going to be a bit pricey and scarce?

Accomodation is only gonna be scarce until the Races is finished. After that it will be grand. So just exclude the weekend leading up to the races(22,23) and the weekend the races are on from the poll. Sorted! :)

Race week Monday July 25th until Sunday 31st.

It was granted city status in 1609 and has been ever since. :P

I know its a kip and all but pretty sure its still a city.

I want to know a few things about how the AH beers work:

    (a) If you don't get on well with someone on boards.ie, does that usually translate into real life? Is there tension between moderators and people they banned?

    (b) If arguments/ altercations/ personal attacks ensue, does an AH moderator try to resolve the dispute, kick you out of the pub or call the Gardaí?

    (c) Does everyone address each other by their respective boards.ie username?

    (d) If you're an AH beers first timer, how do you know who's who? Is there a sign of some sort telling you where the AH beers are on? Are there any protocols?

    (e) What do you guys discuss - favorite threads and moments on AH?

    (f) What are the ages of people who usually attend?

    (g) Does it usually turn into a sausage party?

    Just wondering...

I don't get on well with any mods on here but I dont think it ever goes any further than 'what you ban me for you dirty fecker?!?' Never seen any argument at one of these that needed a mod or a guard to resolve

At the start maybe but switch to real names farly soon. You go around asking "are you from boards???" if you get a wtf like stare that means no.

Sometimes, but surprisingly little said about boards. Most are over 25 anyway i'd say. They used to turn into sausgae parties till the sausages ran out, very few can afford them now

Well hopefully there won't be any "cliques" ;)

If some of my other dublin boards friends are heading to this I might just go too!

Is it too late to suggest an "other" location btw? Can I suggest Wexford? I'm there a lot anyway!

I was JOKING!!!! I'm a bit too long in the tooth to be worried about being in a clique. I just meant if anyone was nervous, don't be. Plenty of people will be turning up not knowing anyone :)

with me it will depend on a few factors. where it is and when it is re costs and transportation etc.

it would be nice to meet up with some boardsies from the area (wicklow, arklow, dublin etc) and travel over together, maybe try get accommodation together yakno. just so it is not one person travelling on their own.

Isn't there an age limit to hostels?

I've stayed in a fewof those over the years - Barnacles is very central. Stayed in sleepzone and another one that was up near the train station, older than the others but it had two single beds and an ensuite. Great room. Was about 10 years ago though :)

If ye are under 16 you generally have to have an adult staying along with you I think like a family member so something. Might be different rules for different hostels.

But highly doubt any 16yr olds will be going to the beers....for a start they might not get served in the pubs or even be let in.

I doubt if it were in my back garden that i would attend.

My life of freedom ends in 9 days, and in 14 days my actual life ends as someone cleverly choose Egypt as a honeymoon destination
