Break test on Hyundai Coupe

    The girlsfriends handbrakes cables are stretched and we were told to get a break test on a rolling road?

    Does it have to be a rolling road or can i take it to any garage?

    Take it to a garage, a knowledgable mechanic will know if they need replacing or not.

    Engage the handbrake then try to drive off in first and second gear-if the car is struggling to go anywhere, then the handbrae works as it should.

    Does your handbrake hold the car on a hill? When you say 'stretched' do you mean you have to pull the hand brake up really far to get it 'tight'? If so you can adjust it, pull up the handbrake cowling and you will see an adjustment nut. Tighten this down maybe 5mm and check and see what its like. Keep going if you need to.
    I can't rule out caliber/handbrake cable failure either but i'd try that first what I said.

    It has always held teh car on a hill but the other day it didnt and it rolled into the car parked down a few houses. The handbrake only comes up about 3-4 clicks which is average so it doesnt need to be tightened there. we brought it to mechanic on duty who said it seems one of the cables are stretched and to bring it to a dealership.

    Could be stretched or broke. Only way to find out is put it up in the air and see what exactly is gone.
