i've never actually been in matt the millers. is that where all ye young hip people go? :P

    No, but I go there.

Ah no, it's a good enough spot. Morrisons or the Left Bank are the other good ones in there at the moment. I'd recommend The World's End on John St. for Boards though. Friendly staff and regulars, stylish interior and a sophisticated cocktail and beer selection.

Mods, a lot of the people who have voted "other" haven't actually stated a location in the thread. Does that make their vote null and void? Also in the poll should it be made clear that Dublin isnt part of "other". Some people dont seem to realise that Dublin was voted out in an earlier thread.

Lol at all the poor Dubs afraid of their shìte of leaving Dublin. Would it be breaking your bail terms or what?

Also lol at the trolls that want the beers in Dublin yet have no intention of going to a beers regardless of where it is.

AH is a nationwide forum, in the three years that I've been here we've never had an AH beers outside Dublin, trolls fùck off and let those that voted for a beers outside of Dublin(ie the majority of voters) have one outside of Dublin and stop fùcking thread-spoiling. You're pathetic.

    No way..

Last AH beers wa sin Dublin and it had maybe 30 people..how many is one in kilkenny gonna attract?

    You never know.

I went to two Waterford beers during my early days on boards. If you get a good enough crowd saying they will go it will work.

If people offer beds/couches to others more will come!!

I reckon Enniscorthy would actually be a pretty good place to have deh beers, mainly because it's not going to happen in Arklow or Dublin, and Waterford might as well be in the Philippines for my knowledge of it.

Ah that's not fair to generalise about all dubs like that.

We all know that it would be only the northsiders in danger of doing that.
You're a bastard for making me lol in work

The bitterness of the humble culchie:rolleyes:

You see the idea of having it "outside of Dublin" is fine, that shows the Dubs real good that they're not at the centre of the universe..well done.

So where are they gonna be instead? Will people from galway travel to Waterford? Is there such a bus service?
What about Kilkenny? How do you get there from Athlone?

Will the Country Cousins make the epic trip across the land to show solidarity with thier fellow Bog Warriors?

Of course they wont..its all very well dissing the Dubliners but it IS the capital city and it does have a bus and rail service to the rest of the country.

Leave it open to the rest of the country and it'll never be agreed on..trust me.

People voted for having the beers "outside of Dublin" so at this point it's not an issue and you are, in fact, thread-spoiling.

This is not about Dublin vs the rest of the country so pleeeeaze, lets not make it about that. It's about respecting the way that AH posters have already voted, ie they want a beers outside of Dublin for once.

You don't want to disrespect the majority of the AH posters now do you? That would be quite rude but then again your post refers to posters as "bog warriors" so I'm thinking maybe this is more about you wanting a beers close to your own location rather than about accommodating AH posters.

Don't worry Degsy, us country folk will protect you from our country cousins, you don't have to be afraid of any trouble kicking off at a country beers. No need to be afraid. :)

Look, clearly you have no intention of leaving Dublin but since it has been voted that this beers night will be anywhere but Dublin why do you even bother to post in this thread? Anyways we could do without the likes of you at the beers night considering you'd probably spend the night moaning and b!tching about having it outside the capital.

We voted out Dublin, this isn't an option anymore. Have you voted for somewhere else so we can settle on a city that's convenient for most people?

Oh and it's only a little over an hour to Athlone from Kilkenny, and it's only about 50 minutes from Dublin on the new motorway.

Right lads and lassies heres the thing.

We had a vote for where the beers will be held. Options were Dublin, outside Dublin or Dundalk. Outside Dublin won, end of story. The bitching about Dublin not being in the poll can stop right here. My pm box is always open if you'd like to discuss things further.

This is not a Dublin vs the rest of the country debate and if it turns into one then i'm locking the thread.

As much as I'd like to be a dictator and rule the world, we'd better wait and see where is voted for. I'm sure the mods will make another shortlist from the votes here and then a venue and date will be decided. So far posters have voted for an outside of Dublin beers so you can take it for granted that's where it's going to be.

I would have though from reading this thread, and the previous thread it would have been crystal clear.

Yeah? How many other towns are there that arent Dublin?

Good luck picking one that everybody will agree to.

The poll itself was flawed in that it gave people with a chip on thier shoulder an oppourtunity to say "anywhere but dublin" and sit back chortling..most of them have no interest in securing a venue or in attending the beers.

The fact that the beers will not now be in Dublin due to this option means taht avenue will never be decided on.

If you want to organise beers, this is NOT the way to do it.

degsy, if you're so sure that the beers will fail then just sit back and watch smugly. And silently. Mostly silently.

To be fair he cant even navigate his way out of Dublin city so I wouldn't expect him to be able to find his way round a few threads in After Hours

If people want to organise their own beers in Dublin thats ok too :)

Can we please not have the Dubs organising a second beers event for themselves? This will have a big effect on the numbers that will attend the "Official Beers" as many people who would travel wont bother doing so if there is an event on in the city (even if its a different night). Beers nights are in Dublin all the time. People have already voted to have it somewhere else. Can we not leave it at that and decide a location somewhere around the country?

I'm happy enough to travel to Dublin for AH drinks. Places like Galway are too far for me :D

Am sure there will be Dublin drinks anyway ;)
