What's the harm in having an AH beers outside of Dublin? I mean, this isn't a region-specific forum. And not everyone attends the Dublin beers anyway, before anyone says "but not everyone can go to a beers in another town/city/village."

Plus, there are plenty that wouldn't go to one in Dublin, myself included. I'd definately consider going to one closer to home.

Somebody mentioned on the other thread, maybe Boards Deals could get a deal on a decently priced place in wherever is decided.

There is no harm in it. don't think anyone said there was. I'd just say that not that many people will actually turn up to one outside dublin. I know other forums have beers and people show up, but it's not really the same. not all the people that vote for where to have it are going to show up. if it turns out to be a success then great, happy days. :) I'd just prefer it in dublin as I can't afford to pay for acccommodation somewhere, so couldn't go.

Is there going to be two people shouting in the corner about how god is/isn't crap/ Ali o riordan is/isn't an arsehole /the EU/government/anything/everything is sh*t?

Then it'll feel like After Hours. :)

Beer is good, but if some of the hamsterwheel thread posters meet then I reckon there will be loud shouting matches & fisticuffs!

Thirty feckin quid in a hostel, there ya go!

Also Citylink do buses at 1 and 2am in the morning to Dublin Airport which goes past O'Connell bridge!

Pure laziness is the only reason anyone'd want the *Dublin* one to be the *National* one.

I don't have 30 quid to spare on accommodation. and i definitely wouldn't be doing a 3 hour journey on a bus after a night out.

i'm not demanding we have it in dublin ffs. read what i said.

I call battle of the beers... Quick someone set up a dublin beers, and we'll see who wins.cause lets face it anything outside of dublin is gonna fail.except maybe galway.

Actually scratch what I said. This, This I like. Just make sure they're put a week apart so people looking for a good excuse to get p*ssed twice neutral observers have the chance to sample both & get p*ssed twice judge for themselves!

If other people want to have their own beers in Dublin thats fine.

Why isnt it an option though? Are you just making some sort of bitter point here?

There was a poll before the poll which determined the poll options on this poll.

Can we please not have the Dubs organising a second beers event for themselves? This will have a big effect on the numbers that will attend the "Official Beers" as many people who would travel wont bother doing so if there is an event on in the city (even if its a different night). FFS beers nights are in Dublin all the time. People have already voted to have it somewhere else. Can we not leave it at that and decide a location somewhere around the country?

I recently posted about this in the Galway city forum about a planned meet up there. Be very careful about meeting strangers, when I lived in the UK I was very active in a British forum. There was a planned meet up and things turned violent, people who held a vendetta on the forum turned up to cause trouble. I got punched in the knee and I am still in pain even though the event was over a year ago. May I suggest you bring one of your parents with you to watch out for trouble makers etc.

You can't bring them, mine will only be fighting them for territory. There's nothing more awkward than a sheep fight in Matt the Millers, the place goes silent.

...and its not like you can be neutral. You'll be ignored by the winner all night if you pick the wrong side then.

I know, it's not like you can convince them both to get along, or pull the wool over their eyes.

That is just a shtocking attempt at a joke, I sincerely apologise.
