Did this play havoc with anybody elses box yesterday?

After the upgrade my box would not turn on properly for over an hour until I phoned UPC who did some remote trickery.

I lost my guide for a while and needed to do a factory reset.

They also upgraded my box the week before I got the letter and I missed loads of recordings.

My favourites had been reset; thats about it. I did reset my planner to be on the safe side, although all seemed ok.

Lost series links on rte and tv3 but all others remained after update. Main change is hd box now has its modem turned on. presume its to allow remote record app to talk to box when its released. Just hope they release it on android. ;-)

You need a 3D TV and the glasses to work with that TV. I'm guessing from your question you don't have a 3D TV ..... save your money until they are a few generations in ...

Aw crap! I dont see myself ever buying one of those to be honest.. It would have to be very big for 3d to be effective. So a projector would be better.

Active 3D (the type used in TV's and PC's) is much more effective than the passive crap used in the Cinemas. My 26" PC Monitor creates a far more potent 3D effect than any Cinema screen I've been in.

I watched the Heineken cup final on a 46 or 50 inch (passive) 3d tv in a pub. It was quality.

I've got the same box but mine is at 4.0.0.2E2 at the moment.

Got the letter yesterday (July 4th) saying the change would happen today (July 5th). However my s/w version is still 4.0.0.2E2 and that's after following the instructions in the letter and unplugging it for about two hours, no change.

I have my mobile number registered against my a/c so when I phone 1908 the initial (automated) response is to ask me to press '1' to acknowledge that this call is about my account. I phoned them earlier today about my broadband and on pressing '1' to say that I wanted to lodge a query about my account, the first automated message was 'we made a change to your TV service on June 28th, if you are having a problem with your TV service since this date please press '1', otherwise press '2' to go to the main service menu'.

Now I called them several times yesterday about my BB but didn't get that message so it looks to me like someone pressed the button a few days early on the s/w upgrade and it's already been applied to my box which on the Diagnostics menu shows as a 6221UPC Thompson and it's non-HD.

So how exactly will the remote recording thing work? They say they will have iphone app but no news on Android, but they do say 'on other mobile browsers and online' - so does that mean that you can log in to a website on your pc and essentially see the tv guide and be able to set recordings on your dvr?

my guess is that they will integrate it to the online tv guide they already have on their site

OK, finally saw something different this evening - I have lost all my TV 'favourites' - no big deal but it means something did happen my DVR+ box even though the s/w version is still the same. My favourite Radio stations were not affected.

Anyone else missing ESPN after doing the upgrade? It isn't appearing on EPG (formerly ch 407).

I'm still on 4.0.0.2E2. But my favourites are gone. My TV planner is still showing a list but I've noticed that it didn't record a scheduled program this afternoon.

So I'm assuming I've been upgraded.

Right, my planned recordings are there but they haven't been recording and its kind of awkward to set it again when it thinks it's already set.

    My update isn't working.
I got the letter telling me to perform the procedure on or after the 5th, but I had no TV signal at all this evening before I started and the update hasn't returned the signal (if an update happened at all)... anybody else having the same issue?

I've a blank screen and UPC customer service is now closed! the letter said to scroll until you found a picture - I got no picture but followed the steps in the letter and also unplugged the box as the automated message suggests! But nothing doing!

Same here. On the basic pace box
    running 4.0.0.0E3. What's with the
    Sky three 'dummy' channel? Can't
    eliminate it from favourites.

Seems we no longer have the Animal Planet station anymore.
Recordings sometimes aren't recording anymore even though they are highlighted in red in the EPG.
Anyone else having problems with their recordings?

    Same here :(

Going to try plugging the box out now.

What area are you in? I'm in Rialto/James's Walk and have had a few problems with loss of signal before that were area wide.
