Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There are a couple of worthwhile deals in Galway at the moment.

McCambridge's have a 4 for €10 offer on the full range of O'Hara's beers, including the Pale Ale and Leann Follain stout.

The Blue Note have 4 for €10 on bottles of Galway Hooker and Duvel. They also have a decent 5 for €10 deal on a few European lagers and German weissbiers, including the relatively hard-to-find Weihenstephaner Dunkel.

Molloys have/had recently the Porterhouse bottles at 4 for €7. Great price.

Bradley's, North Main St. Cork have all Irish and British ales at 4 for €10
This includes O Hara's, Dungarvan, Hilden, and loads of Scottish and English ales.

A few of the BrewDogs at under €2.50 and Sierra Nevada PA at 4 for €10

Large bottles of Chimay and La Trappe are also very cheap.

6 Leffe for €6 in Supervalu, Buncrana. Might just be the individual shop trying to clear out stock though as I can't imagine the stuff sells well round here.

Better make sure you store it in dark cupboard.

Why is that? Does light impair the taste?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,683 ✭✭✭Glebee

From what ive learnt from this forum its because Shepards Neame comes in clear bottles so the light can affect the taste of the beer over time.
I thought I saw somewhere that they were asked to change to dark bottles but would not as they liked the look of the clear bottles more.

Just picked up 4 cans of Prazsky (Czech Lager) in my local Centra for €4.50 as they are out of Staroprammen, Budvar and Paulaner until tomorrow. Not the best beer ever but miles ahead of mainstream beers IMO. Not a Saturday night special but well worth a try for a few easy to drink beers at that rate.

They also have Monteiths at a really good price.

Lots of other decent offers too.

Only place in town with a decent selection these days.
