Yeah. An ex. Lasted about 13 months. Poor girl was a bit nuts.

I used to follow this girl around town but she never noticed me, So I started following her with my lad in my hand. I snook into her room 1 night and stole her underpants which I fed to my dog (sniffing them is just creepy). I followed her dad to work one day and keyed "I love your daughter" into his car to show my affection.

An ex-girlfriend also had a serious one for a year too.

What did you do to em?

I'm sure there is a good story behind these

Well, Dick, when you use your real name as your username, you should expect that sort of thing.

My user name is in tribute to Coronation Streets greatest ever character. He found out my real name through other users on the forum that i was friendly with.

Yeah, I guess so, he'd be waiting at the ticket barriers of my local tube station when I got back after work.

    Didn't last long though.

I had a same-sex stalker. She used to work in the same place as me, got it into her head that I was her best friend forever (I had barely ever even made small talk with her). She got my phone number from a fellow colleague and started off by texting me every now and then. Then she started turning up at places where I had arranged to meet friends - some of them were other collegues and she'd quiz them about where we were going. If my boyfriend (now husband) was ever present, she'd completely blank him and sulk in a corner for the night. If he wasn't around, she'd try and position herself next to me for the night and intrude on every conversation I attempted to have during the night. She was obsessed with herself, seemed to think I wanted to know her life history. Being a nice girl, I started by giving subtle hints (not returning invites, avoiding her at work, never texting back) but had to become more blatant, telling her to back off. No joy though. Although she lived at the other side of the city to me, she'd often hang out on my street waiting to bump into me, joined a club I was in, then started turning up on my doorstep unannounced. She even started to look like me, dying her hair the same colour as mine and buying similar clothes. There wasn't much I could do about it, but we were moving country anyway so I figured it would come to an end naturally. But no, international stalking continued, ended up having to delete my Facebook account, change my phone numbers and warn everyone I know that she is an absolute fruit. She's been gone a few years now, but I still take precautions. I don't know what caused it. I don't think it was sexual, I never encouraged anything, I'm fairly average in every way. Freaky. I'm still a bit wary about making friends with new people in case they also turn out to be nuts.

I used to have this young fella who would turn up outside the house. And wait until I came out, even if it was 7 hours. He'd be out there at 3am some mornings. He used to follow me to work and followed my Mam and Dad around. I thought he was harmless until I was in his room one day (before I knew he was a bit touched) and found my name written out thousands and thousands of times. Mis-spelt.

    He got bored though eventually.

I've had a couple- worst was a guy I met when I had to do a project with him for college. We started having lunch together to talk about it, and it went from there... If I didn't respond to texts asking if I wanted to meet up, he would check my various internet profiles/forums to see if I was online and then walk around all the computer rooms in the college looking for me. He started proclaiming his love for me after a couple of months, and frequently told me how horny he was. Then he dumped his girlfriend. Then he started stroking my hair and cooing at me, and actually GROWLED at other guys I was friends with when they were being friendly to me. One guy he saw me flirting with he threatened to chop off his willy with his penknife... I was arranging a night out with a friend in class one day and all he overheard was the town we would be out in. That night, he joined us, saying he had gone around every pub in the town to find me.

I have a real issue with boundaries so I find this kind of thing very very difficult to deal with...so thankfully my friends stepped in and saw him off. But it was really, really creepy. He was the oddest person I've ever met, physically uncomfortable to be around ALL the time. He patronised me constantly in an 'ahhhh isn't she so cute' kinda way, which I HATE. The actual stalkerage creepy behaviour lasted 4-5 months.

A one night stand took my phone number on the sly somehow and proceeded to pester me with phone calls and text updates on her life for about 6 or 8 months, where she'd gone, who she'd seen there and so on, (i didn't know either her or any of these people by the way). I assume she must have been lonely or something (and probably sexually frustrated to boot:D)
Thankfully the texts and calls just stopped one day, for some unkown reason, probably her next one nighter.
Thank fúck there is someone else out there with beer goggles as defective as mine!

I have been stalked online. I met someone through another forum and I was bombarded with pm's and im's morning noon and night. This person did everything they could to find out where I lived and my phone number. They harassed other people I was friendly with to try to get this information. They researched me online and did find something about me being in Boston but I had actually moved on from there a long time before. I had to shut down my account on the forum, let me email account bounce and was delighted to be moving back to Europe. Americans can be weird sometimes

I had an ex who stole my address book, stalked me and various members of my family/friends. Wrote me 5 letters a day, sent me bizarre mix tapes (this was in the mid 90's) turned up at my house, my place of work...Eventually went away when I had a burly friend and his burly mates have a 'word' or three. Scary.... I don't think I slept right for about 8 months.

7 months, 25 days, 15 hours and 12 minutes, actually.

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

Seriously, though, this guy was a fruit'n'nut. I started to get calls from friends and family asking why this guy was writing to them begging them to help him get me back. He got friends of his to write to me too. I was only 19/20 at the time, had no clue how to deal with him - I maintained the head in the sand approach until he started showing up outside my house and job.

Thank fcuk there was no such thing as FB etc back then, I'm very cautious with privacy settings on it now, just in case the dude ever goes looking for me!

A neighbour, a couple of years ago now. Would ring my doorbell every day, sometimes twice a day to get me to go for a drink with him. I tried to be polite but he didn't get the hint. Every time the bell went my heart would stop. I started keeping the blinds closed, wasn't sleeping...

Eventually I told him to stop harassing me - it had gone on for nearly 2 months. He did ring the bell the odd time after that but then he moved away. I later found out from a neighbour he was married but he only saw his wife at the weekend (not sure where she was living)

Most of the examples of Stalkers given on here are no more than pests who can't take a hint. I kinda find myself cringing for them, to be honest.

I've had one. A very scary ex. We lived in the same building (large student accomodation type set up in the UK back in the early 90s)

He stole all my post. He broke into the attic of the building we lived and and crawled along it til he was over my room so he could hear what I was doing and if I was talking about him. He'd creep along the corridors at night and listen at my (and other people's) door. He vandalised his own room door with abusive graffitti and tried to claim it was me. When I moved out he found out where I was living and would drive up and down the street. I got a new job outside of the city I lived in and he would drive past the bus stop when I was going home, staring me out. i was terrified of him and lived in a constant state of fear, which, looking back, is what he wanted.

This continued til i moved back to Ireland.

There is nothing flattering about having a stalker and it has nothing to do with being attractive and interesting. It is about intimidation and control.
