I've done a search of the forum and followed the advice I thought was most appropriate and so ran Combo Fix.

This hopefully has done the trick as it deleted a number of files.

I have F-secure (provided by my ISP) and Avast along with Windows defender on the machine.

F-secure had previously been putting up a popup saying trojen.peed.gen was found in an Avast temp file. Since running combo fix this hasn't happened yet so I am hoping the machine is now clean.

However I have a back up of the machine taken prior to running combo fix on a mirrored nas drive.

What is the best advice in dealing with this infected backup?

I'm assuming that combo fix won't have scanned the nas drive.
