I enjoyed it. It was an excellent demonstration of intelligent boxing. I probably would have enjoyed it even more if Haye had been able to overcome the jab and impose his own gameplan on the fight. But he wasn't

Klitschko's got a superb jab and he's as intelligent a fighter as you'll find. Why should he be faulted for his opponents' inability to cope with this? What you are effectively asking for is a fighter to drop all tactics/style and go toe-to-toe in 'the trenches'. That's not boxing, that's a brawl

Now Tyson, in his prime, would have torn Wlad to shreds, but that's because Tyson (half a foot shorter than Haye) had the skill and the sheer ability to close the distance against a bigger fighter and impose his own game. That Haye was incapable of doing that should not mean that Wlad should start boxing stupid

Theres a big differance between saying there is anything wrong with him to saying that he doesnt really do much for the game.

I havent slagged off Klitschko , I just dont think his style is anything to celebrate.

And I can safely say that you were in the minority in terms of enjoying it. The stats of his next fight will prove this beyond doubt!

Having a read of the British papers this morning online

I didn't see it as the stream went down.

But the papers slamming the British fans for booing the Ukrainian national anthem.

Well I find the English fans to be the world's worst for this. Seen them booing opponent's national anthem's in numerous sports. Absolute disgrace and it should be highlighted and frowned upon by English media in order to try and stamp it out.

Disagree so much. Like any game and any sport. It is ALL about winning, not how you win. (as long as you win fair)

Its not as black and white as that mate.

If EVERY competitor had that attitude, people would find the sport dull and wouldn't watch. Showmen are often much more popular than grinders. They often drive the sport

For example, people loved watching Marat Safin play in the tennis throughout his career. He wasn't the best, but he was entertaining. He had a temper, he smashed his equipment and he tried outrageous shots when others played it safe.

Chelsea are a better football team than arsenal.....more people prefer to watch arsenal because they play more attractive stuff. Stoke are a better football team than many lower league sides but teams like swansea in the championship played with more style.

You can see this pattern in any sport. People want to be entertained. If people don't watch your sport, your sport will die and you won't make a career out of it.

While I agree that a competitor has every right to "Win Ugly" if needs be.....but its not ALL about winning. Thats short-sighted. If everyone wins ugly and has no flair, everyone loses out in the long run

The brothers fill 50-80k stadiums every time and in germany they get something like 20million viewers on tv so i dont think your even close,

obviously the british wont go mad to buy his PPV as they where buying for Haye not Klitschko, but this is regardless of the fight last night.

At the highest level of any professional sport it is all about winning, and a team or individual at that level will do so using the method that best allows them to do so. Sometimes the public gets lucky and gets a team/individual that is as entertaining as successful, but often it is a case of a team/individual that can win over and over by being technically/physically/tactically better.

History is generally kind to champions, not always of course but more often than not it is.

I dont believe sport should be about "winning at all cost" particularly when people are paying to watch you fight. At that stage its about entertainment. .

why don't you go watch WWE wrestling if you want to be entertained

Well yeah, he'll probably pack out another arena in Germany. And claim another knockout

(Edit: And to forestall the response: how much interest in Haye has there ever been outside the UK?)

And I think that people are doing a disservice to Haye here as well. Its compensating for a comprehensive defeat by claiming that he's somehow more of an entertainer - a Hatton or a Safin or an Arsenal - which is a veiled, if well-intentioned, insult. David Haye: loveable loser

Germany is their home base, they are adopted citizens. How is the interest in their fights outside of Germany ?

Dont see many looking to get them over to the states. If they were worth watching and entertaining they would of been given an offer they couldnt refuse!

Brilliant, that can be boxings new slogan while the Klitschkos are at the top of the heavyweight divisions!

"If you want to be entertained, boxing is not for you" :D

No no. You misunderstand me. Haye is a c*nt. Nothing lovable about him. My commentary was more directed at "Winning is everything" attitude that does sport no favours.

Thats because they dont have an opponent who can challenge the brothers, if they did it would be big businessover there, nobody wants to pay to watch your own get beaten easily.

    I disagree.

Plenty of fighters who were nowhere near as good as Tyson were happy to get in the ring with him and they knew they were going to be savaged and plenty of people watched it as it was entertaining.

If the klitschkos were good to watch it wouldnt matter who they were fighting, they would be in the US.

Yeah but people paid to see Tyson not the opponent, people pay for there own, Klitscko is not in that categorary, his biggest issue there is his nationality not his skills.

They wont pay to see there own whooped.

There is some truth to that, but its not all simply about nationality. If they had the presence of an ALI/Tyson, people everywhere would pay to watch them!

Im not American but I paid and stayed up till 5am to watch tyson fights , particularly holyfield fights!

I think your being overly harsh there and, Haye has been great to watch, he's exciting with a big punch. Came up short tonight but he's a very good boxer. I think people are calling him sh!te and a loser because of his mouth but taking a step back he's been really good for the spoort in the ring (outside he's a twat).

I'd love to see Adamek trouble Vitali but he's always looked like one big heavyweight punch will take him out.
BTW all Adamek has done is danced around the ring since he's stepped up.

At heavyweight, Haye has done nothing to entertain in the ring imo. Barrett,Valuev,Ruiz,Harrison and last night. Sure,he has a big punch, doesn't matter when he won't be agressive enough in the ring to use it for a sustained period against the best fighters. He says he's the best around, but he'd get beat by a bunch of guys at Heavyweight imo.

Ya,if he wasn't so annoying and proclaiming himself to be the best, then he'd be another who just isn't good enough, but he deserves all the criticism for the way he acts.

Fact is people all over the world especially in Boxing will always be into American or British Boxers, Lennox lewis boxed like Wlad and he was a big deal, this is partly due to the press they recieve world wide that eastern europeans will never get.

All the best Heavyweight now are eastern european but people dont know them as there not all over the news, papers etc , Haye is not entertaining and sold the fight, because he's british.

Haye has charisma, however annoying it is and he was seen by many as somebody who might drag the heavyweight out of its current slump.

Are you really saying that if the Klitschko boys were exciting boxers they wouldnt of broken the US? Until we get an Eastern European boxer that has an entertaining bone in his body, the jury will be out on that!

Yea,geez who would have him as a pundit after that,at least Jim Watt says it like it is,thought Lennox Lewis was having none of it either when the big toe excuse was bought out when he could have avoided it, even though he must know Haye.

Haye didn't even leave it all in the ring, He could have went another 5 rounds, Stood off and avoided fight all night, afraid of been hit, that's not a true champion
