Where sells second hand road bikes?

My girlfriend is looking at getting herself a road bike and has a budget of around €400 for the bike, where would be the best places to look as I assume it'd be a tight enough budget for a decent road bike? She wants it to do a charity cycle to Galway. All the places like donedeal, adverts etc only seem to have men's bikes.

    Any help appreciated :)

Women's and Men's bikes are the same, just different sizes. There's a thread about it here....

There was a thread on here recently enquiring about female specific bikes. The general consensious seemed to be that there was little if any difference between such a thing and a small "man's" bike except perhaps the aesthetic aspect. Any suitably small framed road bike should do her fine. It might be worth her while popping in to Rothar to see if they have anything.

    Aye, when I say men's, I mean men's sizes! She's 5'4"

You're dead right there pal, they rarely appear online. Probably because less than one in ten road bikes sold at shops are in 'women's' sizes so there's just less of them out there. Also women seem to suffer less from 'upgraditis' which might help account for their bikes absence on second hand sites.

There'll probably be plenty of choice for her in the secondhand market in a couple of months. Not much good to her now though. Could try ebay but keep it to within Europe as the shipping costs amoung other potential cost could be quite prohibative otherwise.

Why in a couple of months?

It's a seasonal thing. A lot of people buy their bikes with good intentions. The cold weather hits and they see their bikes as dead weights so they sell 'em.

Don't 2012 models also come out soon? In that case some people would be upgrading so there'd be a bit more selection on the used market.
