Usb sound card to use with adobe audition

Hi, I'm currently working on some music on adobe audition but I have issues with the sound when I play back a song made up of anything over 5 tracks with any effects on it. The sound breaks up and lags and basically makes it impossible to work with (it's just the sound when I play causing the issue because when the song is mixed down it's perfect).

I was told the issue is with my sound card and to get a usb one in order to solve the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions as to which one? I saw creative have one for around the 40euro mark but I'm not sure if it'll do the job http://en.store.creative.com/sound-blaster/sound-blaster-x-fi-go-pro/1-20056.aspx
I'd rather spend more money and get one that works perfectly than get one for less and find out it'll only do half the work.

    Any help is really appriciated!

What kind of computer are you making music on?

It could be a software problem. If you increase the number and the size of the buffers in your sound card settings through Adobe it may solve the problem.

Also look into ASIO drivers - that may also fix the problem.

Your computer may also just not be powerful enough to run that many live effects on tracks at once.

That would be my first piece of advice too. Try ASIO4ALL, that should get you started.

Thanks for the help, I tried ASIO and it did make a difference but it's still glitching on the play back.
I'm using my toshiba laptop to do everything (also I'm only mixing, I don't record onto audition)- it's very capable to handling multiple projects, it's only the sound that's letting it down.

Any other suggestions? Think I'm still looking at the sound card option

Click on the little battery icon on the bottom left of your screen.

Make it's using full power and not power save. Low power means your processor will run slower.
