I recently met a woman that I used to be really attracted to. As she is single again, I would like to ask her out. I used to fantasise about her, so did most guys that I knew. She was stunning, sexy and elegant. Funny and intelligent too. Ten years on and she weighs about 18 stone. I suppose I did notice but am still star struck by her so saw past the weight gain. A friend laughed and said everyone will call me Shallow Hall if I date her. Am I mad? Would any of you go out with a fat girl?

It's weird alright how a change in appearance can completely alter how you feel about someone.

I remember the 1st or 2nd girl in school I had a crush on (my family sometimes still embarrass me about her) was something else to me on the Friday.

The next Monday she got glasses and bam. Attraction gone :eek:.

I don't really know if you've 'seen past the weight gain'. You seem really unsure and found it necessary to consult people on boards about the 'fat girl'. Hmm..

At some level you must find her still physically attractive even if your "friend" says she is fat,as you like her enough to want to ask her out. Nobody I know would ask someone else out if they thought the other one was ugly but intelligent.

Why care what your friend or anyone else for that matter thinks or says - go have fun with this woman and if it trunes out to be just a bit of fun or something more enjoy it while it lasts
