I'm in, but it's super slow. No results yet.

    I still can't get in!
Starting to worry that I really do have my PIN wrong!

Considering you must use it every day to log into moodle, your e-mail and the internet on campus? That's hardly likely!

24/7 Armed Guard? That very rarely happens... ever.

For Data protection reasons and back up reasons its still better to keep them on site, For example all important data is backed up and stored securely on campus (Safes)

The university gets its Gbps internet connection for free yes, but most of the data it stores is not visible outside the campus, for example all student records.

    They know what there doing.
Of course servers have to be under 24/7 armed guard, most companies have very sensitive data on servers. Try getting into a datacenter and having a look around, even if you own a server in there, most won't let you in.

I see keeping them onsite as a mistake, most organisations have multiple offsite backups, keeping your servers and backups all in the one place is asking for trouble.

    You're old fashioned.

Only in terms of exam results..

I took a few years out back in the day when students had to actually write all their lecture notes out and not get print outs of moodle. ;)

Student services is loading like webpages did with dialup..

You'd be surprised how easy it is to get into some datacentres, even with guards (no datacentre in Ireland is under armed guard) and man traps. I've never been to one where they even lock the doors on the rack cabinets

The data is kept on campus, but again the Computer Centre know what they are doing, there's multiple back up systems in different locations, and backups are stored in different secure places.

We can all be the monday morning quarterback, but....

This is like what happened last year. Everyone waiting on the 23rd, nothing happens. Then they're put up at midday on the 24th.

we've gotten them between 12 and 12.45 for the past few years.. they wont leave it as late as 4.. 2 at the latest! theres too many people logging in and it all keeps crashing so that will delay it all too

Technically they said that they 'anticipate' results will be up on 23 June.

    That's depressingly open to interpretation.

If memory serves me correctly, then Maynooth students get theirs the following day.
