I was out with a friend one evening and his friend had a real 'boardsie' sense about him. I drunkenly 'reprimanded' him of said affiliation to which he bemusedly retorted, 'What's Boards?'. His reply seemed genuine, but it may have been a good cover at the time.

I had a previous account here with a few hundred posts(unlike my meagre 5 posts in this account), so I'd like to think I would have enough boards experience to recognise a fellow user.

OP: Yes, on one occasion and I still don't know how to this day :pac:

Couple of times. Most on the Waterford section know each other in person anyway, and I've been to a Beers or two. I'm not discreet about it when I'm drunk so I'll usually shout it at them.

I use my MitchKoobski username everywhere as well, so if you come across it somewhere else where theres a picture, its easy to tell who I am.

Yes, it was scary. Got chased off a bus. Made me freak out that posts about my job, my location in my profile, and one photo in know your nerds could lead to that. Changed my info after that one...He meant well and just wanted help about something but I was absolutely terrified and too freaked out to do anything.

I am a long time lurker and only recent poster, so no, but I am pretty sure I work with one. He often mentions stuff at lunch that makes me think 'you've been reading AH:eek:'

So now I am watching EVERYONE in a stalkery kind of way and I AM GOING TO WORK OUT WHICH ONE OF YOU HE IS!

Yes. Just the other day I got a text message from a friend of one of my sisters who recognised me from know your nerds, and when I first signed up I got a PM from someone who knew me in school, and spotted some piece of personal information I had mentioned. Ireland / Boards is a small place.

    Chased, or you over reacted?

Depends on the forums which you frequent! A lot of them are close knit communities and in Ireland, a close knit community is particularly close knit. But on AH it helps if your one of the particularly deranged nerds to get recognized.

I have, I had two kids call to the door asking if I was Tallon from youtube :p
A mate of mine is a boardsie but doesn't post too much. Another mate mentioned boards the other week and that made me wonder if he was registered.

It wouldn't be too hard for anyone that knows me to work out who I am from my username and and the fact that I have my avatar as my facebook profile picture.

    Just wondered.

I think I recognised you at that huge riot that kicked off at the Smithfield horse fair. Could have been you at least.

Not literally off the bus, but he was running through my estate calling my real name to catch up with me...was about 19 at the time, weak little girl on my own, don't think it's an overreaction.

I met a C Mod during the week in an internet cafe in Rathmines. He noticed I was on Boards and we introduced ourselves. Pure random.

I would have met him at the mod parties but I was off my face on coke and the view was obscured by hookers..............

I've met people on Boards I know in real life. Also my OH is a Boardsie these days but I dragged her in here. You know she's a freak when she goes and thanks a post 2,000 deep on my post list but I like them mental.

Nope. But then I never posted my picture before so I don't think it'd be too easy to spot me!

I have recognised one guy before though. He was posting in the motors forum about a car he wanted to buy and ended up buying it from the garage I work in. I said it to him and he was sound enough too.

not IRL because I don't reveal my identity (i'm not secretive, I just don't post photos) but I'm constantly getting PMs on other forums asking me if I'm the same phasers from Boards.

I was at Electric Picnic last year and spent a bit of time hanging out with a guy I know and his friend. His friend had said to me he recognised me from somewhere but didn't know why and then on the Sunday I tripped over (I have broken my leg on the Friday but not known!!!!) and he said whoopsadaisydoodles! So turned out I was hanging out with a boardsie and didn't even know :D

Quite a bit. I often get spotted while going about my day. People often come upto me in town and say "are you Fago from boards?"...... "Yeah"......"Cool, I'm <insert username I've never heard>".. "ah yeah I know I've seen you around. well I best be off" *scurries to pub*

Sometimes people would PM me saying they seen me in the street. ****ing come up and say hello then!!!

Or in the middle of a field at Oxegen. ;)

In a city as small as Galway, I get recognised a good bit. Made quite a few friends IRL because of boards.

But I once had a guy come into the place I worked and be like "Ah howya Redhairedguy, I saw your post on such and such..." and I hadn't a fúcking clue who he was.

I had the same fears but tomorrow is my birthday so I'm going to hand in my notice and not give a fup about that job. Only know 2 I was in college with who are on here.

Not yet, but I'm sure it'll happen at some point, with my mug posted on KYN, and the small population here.
Also the crown's a dead giveaway.

Have recognised some people while out and about, or at least thought I did. Not gonna go up to them in the street though, wouldn't mind if someone came up to me, but I wouldn't be one to make the first move in that instance.
