Phuket/Phi Phi in September

    Hi,

Currently planning my honeymoon for September which takes in South East Asia. Spending last 4/5 nights on the islands in Thailand. From the research I've done Phuket seems to be a bit dodgy weather-wise at this time of year as it's monsoon season. Ko Samui and its environs seem to fare a bit better at this time of year from a weather perspective.

However, from general reports that I've heard on both the Phuket/Phi Phi region and the Ko Samui/Ko Tao region, the Phuket region seems to be rated much higher. I only have time to get one of these areas in unfortunately.

    I'm just wondering:
    • What islands would people recommend to go to in September?
    • Is the weather really worth worrying about on Phuket in September?
    • Is Phuket a better option than Ko Samui in general?
    • If going to Ko Samui, what are the best parts of the island (have heard Chaweng Beach is a bit of a dive)

    Hi,;)
Just to say we were in Patong, Phuket for 7 nights 2nd week in Oct 09. While there is was cloudy every day with heavy afternoon showers lasting about 1hr. At the time locals told us weather not normally as bad but we never even saw the sun during that week there.
Just in case you have not seen the website below as has lots of info.
