can it bought for that price?

    Hmmm,

"The Vittorio is leather and leather effect, with foam-filled seat cushions, fibre-filled back cushions, a wooden frame and black plastic feet."

So it's part leather & part, er, vinyl? I'd need to know where the leather was before buying...

    Did anyone get one?

Was anyone smart enough to save a copy of the web page?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,708 ✭✭✭Del007

surely they wouldn't have let it go for the price of 16.99, isn't there terms and conditions where they don't have to honour the price?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 192 ✭✭rafaetha

I doubt they would let one go for €50, let alone €16.99...

No, that is if you order something and the price changes between then. You pay the price displayed at the time of collection. If someone had a copy of that page they could make them honour it especially because there was a footnote at the bottom saying that the price shown was valid until 22/6/11.

Surely you should know by now that online websites don't have to honour anything, they're covered in terms and conditions for misprices on online shopping websites. They would just say to you that it was a misprice, thats the end of that.

It's hilarious to see how naive some people are with regards to misprices..

.. they don't need to honour it at a price regardless of what it said on the website.

If they honour something that was obviously misprice, fair fecks to them... but realistically, they're not gonna lose €150 off the price of a chair! :D

If I was a betting man, I'd be pretty positive that there's T&C's on the Argos website that states "pricing discrepancies / mistakes do occur.." and yada yada yada.

Companies are protected up the ying-yang for this sorta thing. If a misprice is honoured, it's a plus but you don't have a leg to stand on legally.

Or thick enough to think that would work?

It's not just online retailers, items priced in shops don't have to be sold at the price displayed, it's just an 'invitation to treat'.

Well it says "* Please note item 6893077 has previously been on sale at €50.00." so i assume 50 was the right price.~But still even at €169.99 it a huge discount
