Young Sparrowhawk Female?

    Spotted this fellow out the back in the evening today, which i presume is a young female Sparrowhawk?

    It's my first time ever seeing one around, living in the suburbs so it was a bit of a surprise:

    Rushed to my camera when I saw it, it was through a window so its not the best quality.

    12x optical zoom just isn't enough for snapping birds!

    That's an adult female sparrowhawk.


    Probably the most common bird of prey in suburb areas and one that thrives in suburbs.

    Cheers for the reply.
    She looked smaller than i thought as she had her head ducked down, it wasn't til she flew away you could see it looked a bit older.
