Have you got mobo player? It seems to be very popular and you don't need to encode for it as it plays a variety of formats.

Dual Sims, It seems a lot of hassle to go through, for the sake of removing the battery and putting another sim card, is there something else Im missing here?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,654 ✭✭✭shadowninty

You don't need to remove the battery I think

Unfortunately you do, I thought the San Fransisco had hot-swapping for the sim card (so you didn't have to remove the battery) but its only for the SD card. Have ordered something from Deal Extreme now, only cost €4 but looks like it should work, so we'll just see. I'll post back when I get it (prob in like 4 weeks:D) in case anyone else is interested as well.

Was on the lookout for one for ages and came across this one on ebay.
    linky:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180672424309&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_582wt_1139

Fits grand but the indentations for the power and the volume are a wee bit deep so you have to give them a small bit more of a puch ith the fingernail.
The screen protector is a great fit a very responsive.
    €7 delivered from UK.
    Not bad at all
I have nothing to do with the seller btw.

I know this is probably really lazy, but i'm a bit lost trying to figure it all out! this is my second zte blade.. first one was dropped down the toilet at the wkend :-( i was hoping it would be a gen 2 but it's only gen 1.... http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blade-roms-rom-customisation/337798/gen1-to-gen2-tpt-upgrade/ tells me how to upgrade, but i assume i need to root the device first?

at what stage in this guide

    http://sanfranciscoandroid.co.uk/android/how-to-install-custom-roms-android-2-2-from-scratch-on-the-orange-san-francisco-zte-blade/

should i cut to the upgrading to gen 2 could anybody tell me? or should i just do all of the second link and then the first?

THanks for that! can't believe how easy it is now compared to the old way! I would have wasted my time doing the old way first and then upgrading! instead i went and cooked some dinner and your reply was here when I came back! The thread is so long now It makes it hard to find the info you need!:)

I've a Gen 1 with Portuguese Spring. What advantages does upgrading to Gen 2 give you apart from extra system memory?

Will I not be able to use Portuguese Spring on Gen2?

I'm probably going to wreck a few heads, but I've just got my new OSF and am doing a crap job of de-branding it. I have it unlocked, but in fairness that's bloody easy.
I have (I think!) installed the USB drivers on my PC and downloaded 'UniversalAndroot.apk'. I'm copying this over the the phone, which appears as a removable drive on my PC. Now I can't find where the file has gone. If I check in 'Filer' the SD looks completely empty.
    Any quick fixes or ideas?

You need a better file explorer that sees the root directories of your android. I use root explorer, not free but there are others.

go as far as the Clockwork recovery install. then you can follow the steps for gen2.

Do you still have the broken one? My sisters touch screen is cracked and I wouldn't mind replacing it.

As shadow ninty told me just do the TPT that's described here
    http://android.modaco.com/content/zte-blade-roms-rom-customisation/337798/gen1-to-gen2-tpt-upgrade/

copy the "CM 7.0.3 TPT" onto your sd card, turn off phone, and and hold menu and volume up when you turn it on. That'll do everything automatically!

Separate issue: I used to have sweedish spring on my old phone, now have CM7, just wondering how do I get a numeric keyboard for texting that I used to have on sweedish spring, and japenese jellyfish before that? I don't know is it that's it's not installed or that I just can't find the setting to change it! I just have whatever was in the TPT file so may need other files?

    EDIT: http://www.allshadow.com/2009/08/12/how-to-get-the-htc-hero-keyboard-android/
incase anybody wants to get the keyboard! Took a while to google the right stuff but got what I wanted :-)

EDIT2: that app keeps crashing and I can't write a text at all, hate qwerty keypad for texts. Can anybody help me get htc numeric keypad on CM7? Else I'm back to sweedish spring... do I have to wipe all to go back to that? Is there a TPT file to install it on a gen 2 or what do I've to do?

I am currently drying the phone out to see if i can get it working again! putting it into and taking it out of fridge, after some googling. I don't know if the screen cover is working as there are electronics in that too... but to be honest I'd like to keep it as a spare myself, as I broke the screen on my last one and had to buy this as a replacement http://cgi.ebay.ie/100-Genuine-ZTE-Blade-Front-Fascia-digitizer-screen-/300532388885?pt=UK_MobilePhones_MobilePhoneAccessories_MobilePhoneFascias_JN&hash=item45f9205415 which is pretty pricey! Only place I could find a replacemnt. My brother has the zte too so I figure one of us will need the screen at some stage! Sorry about that!

Trying to run this "fastboot-windows flash recovery recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.3-blade.img" but I'm still 'Waiting for Device'.

    What have I done wrong?

Did you power the phone on with the + volume rocker key pressed? Also, what OS are you using, and do you need drivers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 334 ✭✭KazDub

I power on the phone with the + button pressed. The green android screen appears for a bit, then the 'Orange' logo and the the phone loads up as normal. I'm on Windows 7 and as far as I can tell the USB drivers are installed.

No no, the phone should not load up as normal. It should stay on the green Android screen. Make sure you hold the + button down before you press the power button and don't let go of the + until after you release the power button. Hopefully that'll help!

I've been trying since Monday to get this phone de-Orangeified. In that time I must have done the whole 'power on with the + button' plenty of times. It doesnt' work on my phone. Just tried it there again for the sake of it, same thing. Should there be something installed onto my phone to make this work first?
