父 What does this symbol mean?

I've seen this on a few profiles and one friend gets a 父 before their name Does it mean something? I've googled for a while but can't find anything for many English language results Seen quite a few Irish people on facebook with one friend and they have 父. Is it mean to mean something? Thanks

Looks like it could be the cancer awareness ribbon. Or something close enough to represent it??
