I think most men or women can be good-looking if they put in a bit of effort. It's the effort part that is lacking here.

In fairness, with the exception of Barack Obama, none of the world leaders are anything to write home about. In fact, I'd say the likes of Sarkozy and Berlusconi are made worse by the fact that they're sleazy f*ckers on top of it.

    i dunno

We are an exceptionally beautiful race. I bet they went to some muck savage area like Leitrim or Longford where the men are comparable to inbred hillbillies.

if your takling about showering and shaving then most men clean up well, as far as makeup goes, thats purely for women and some of ye go to far that when a bit of rain comes along half your face is in the puddle on the street

I like how when it's a "Irish men are the ugliest in the world" thread, everyone's disagreeing with the op and calling it out for the crap it is, including the women, but when it's an "Irish women are the ugliest in the world" thread, everyone's in complete agreement of the truthiness of the matter (except the women, obviously). :p

Even in here, it's hilarious to see the "nah Irish men aren't but Irish women are" comments. :pac: Oh, the ironing!

Haha, I mean healthy eating, exercise to get that natural glowing skin and good physique. Most people prefer going to the pub and eating crap. Well, not most, but many.

And to whoever said about the two founders looking like GAA players - agreed. A suit and shower do wonders for most men.

come on, Irish men are pretty bad in the looks department, but just turn on the charm and show you've got a working brain and no girl worth bothering about will give a damn what you look like

I don't think that's entirely true. Irish lads are not the best looking overall (although there are some really good looking ones), and the sense of humour goes a long way. However, I wouldn't say that no one cares what they look like. There's a line and limit to that!

Also, I'm sure Irish men seem exotic to some people. Their reputation preceeds them in a lot of cases, and I'm sure there are foreign women who genuinely would find them quite attractive. We think they're brutal cos we have to look at them everyday, but as soon as we see a Spaniard we're falling over ourselves to get near him, even though his own countrywomen might regard him as average or not good looking at all, simply because we're not used to it. It's all about novelty!

Yes I guess there's a lot of truth in the novelty appeal line, but a friend of mine, who is Irish, moved back here after 16 years living in Europe and regularly tells me she's still not got used to how ugly the men are - they hold no novelty value for her!

Ah some of them are good looking though! Although when they're rotten, they're really rotten.

    Exactly!

Let these lady-boys have their beautiful sites and hair gel; give me a pint, and shot of whiskey and a bag of chips with an optional punch-up afterwards. This is a man's country!

Well we're in the west, do you reckon we're short on good looking men here? Are they all up in Dublin?

Actually, she is, but she often opens her mouth before engaging her brain and says exactly what she's thinking - she doesn't do tact

Well the last thread we had with a similar theme most, not all, guys stood up for Irish girls. Now there have been threads in the past where Irish girls have been slated but they're few and far between these days.

So I have to disagree with your point there liah.

I dunno. Maybe we are running a bit low. They've all gone east perhaps. Not to worry. The GAA championships are starting again now, so maybe there'll be something good to look at then.
