98% of Republicans claim to believe in God.

Yet they behave as though there won't be a judgement day

If you don't believe in God you are a commie and probably a closet homosexual. Them Atheist Muslims are ruining this country because they hate our freedom. Well not on my watch! God bless America.

Agreed. They are almost as bad as women at this stage.

An atheist on the internet is like a woman on the blob.

Whats the problem if they do? Plenty of people continue to believe, and i am sure many more will until they are proven otherwise.

Everybody is entitled to their belief, as long as they arent ramming their opinion down my throat im fine with people believing whatever they want to, for the record yes i still continue to believe in God.

    Which one?

Im an agnostic myself (Im sure im in the majority as I would say that not knowing wheter theres a god describes most!) anyway I dont have a problem with other peoples religious beleifs however what I find amazing is that 9 out of ten americans express beleif in god but only 1 out of ten beleive in sasquatch yet the latter is a lot more mundane and has a lot more evidence in favour of it. There seems to be a huge double standard in regards to beleifs.

I actually find that religious people have an inferiority complex when it comes to discussing facts.

Of course you are. Never ceases to amaze me the vitriol that comes from (some) non-believers. I have a deep faith. Always have - always will. I don't look down on, or begrudge their (non) beliefs to those who do not believe.

We take such attempted ridicule with a pinch of salt really.:)

Not really. Live and let live. I believe - you don't. So be it. Move on.

I can't say I'm surprised really. I think it is a good thing in most cases.

This isn't shocking or new information. Its well known that America is far more strictly religious then Europe.

Who do you think the original pilgrim settlers were? Fecking puritans.

78% Christian, so the other 14% must be other religions and then 8% atheist / agnostic. Although I've also seen figures that say 16% non-religious. So this means that some of that 16% actually believe in God.

A complicated mosaic one could say.

The arguments for and against the existence of a Creator are both logically flawed.

everyone who experiences life has a consciousness/sentience/emotion/spirit so the 92% probably deduce that theres more than the material world and associate this with the term god

    I don't.

Aaaaand why do you assume everyone on the Poll was Christian? Or from another mainstream religion for that matter. Just yesterday someone was telling me all about the Conversations with God thing, which, doesnt really have a whole lot to do with Christianity.

it'd be sooo much cooler if you just ignored them instead of constantly trying to defend your water boarding compatriots

IMO as long as people believe in God, everything is fine.

Look at communist countries, they are atheist and those societies don't turn out well. There is a reason capitalism works.

...and here was me about to take the piss out of the above but by George, he's right!
    Capitalism:

    noun /ˈkapətlˌizəm/

A country where what people believe in god and stuff and everything is grand 'cause of it.

Next time I see my economics professor he is getting a box in the chops. Kept going on about some nonsense to do with private ownership or something.

Who argues against the existence of a creator?
