    Hey,
Yesterday I was doing deliverys with my friend for a local Chinese take away. I was amazed at the amount of people who didn't tip. I thought that everyone always tipped the drivers but apparently not!

So do you tip your delivery driver?

Occasionally depending on what change I have...you're already paying for delivery.

If there is a reason to tip,

They speak English, are polite courteous and timely.

I would love a system like the states where people worked for their money. Sooo much better service, manners and respect from both parties

    Yes €2+
No, I feel uncomfortable telling a person keep the change if it is only 1 or 2 euro.

Yeah. I say: mind that bast'rd of a dog on your way back to your van there... it's the neighbour's & a right nasty little f'cker... he'll get around behind you & bite for sure... we've called the Guards twice but, sure, they do nothing.

Then I yell after them when they're almost halfway to the van: here he comes! watch out! he can smell the food!!

    Speak english?

So basically you are saying that you wouldn't give a foreigner a tip!

Why, they would be happy with a euro or 2

    I tip.

In fact my delivery drivers even give me a lift home with my takeaway. (next door to the pub) €2 delivery charge. I give them €5. A taxi is €10. Beats the hassle of waiting on a taxi and the food is always hot when I get in!

If you can afford it, tip, if you can't, don't.

Last time I checked foreigners can speak English too:confused:. Its not a Prerequisite to be Irish to speak English?

WPP is a crock of an Idea. No way am I supporting it.

The delivery charge goes to the chipper though, not the driver

I always give then a few euro, its a mundane job they do, and usually for feck all pay. The tip is generally nothing in relation to the price of the food, so why not?

I also use the same places regularly, so don't want the people handling my food thinking I'm a miserable ba5tard

EDIT: I voted twice in the poll, for both +/- 2e options, cos it depends on how much the food costs

Also, how can anyone afford the likes of a Dominos pizza for 20e but not a 2e tip

Stopped getting take aways, far too expensive here imo, when I did, more often than not the food was just about warm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 893 ✭✭✭danslevent

I don't tip. I wish it was always included, I just hate the awkward fumbling at the door with coins! I know that sounds petty but so be it :P

if its delivered in decent timing and i have change on me ill give them a quid or so. but im not going over 2 euro. they may have a thankless ****ty job, but sure dont most people in some way.

I don't tip because society says I have to. If someone deserves a tip, if they really put forth an effort, I'll give them a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, fuck that shit. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doing their job.

Always tip a food delivery if paying in cash.....a quid or thereabouts.

Can't stand those tipping cups in cafés....really bugs me.

It's that thing of being asked for a tip....if you ask, you don't get!
