Microphone Problem and Jailbroken?

    iPhone 4 btw.
Basically I've had this problem for a while now and it's really starting to do my nut in. I can't have a normal conversation on the phone because the other end can barely (really really low) hear me. I have to put the phone on loudspeaker and put the mic right up to my mouth and that never even works either. I also tried a few recording apps and it seems to work okay-ish on some apps but for voice memo's etc.

So I'm wondering could this be any problem down to jailbreaking? I had a problem with my folders taking an age to open because of it been jailbroken but that's been fixed now with a tweak from Cydia.

Should I restore and test it out? If I'm restoring I'd like to stay on 4.3.1 and not go to 4.3.3, is this possible? I also want to be able to backup all my Cydia packages and 'apps' that I've got installed, how do you recommend I do so?

Try using a needle to clean out the microphone hole. If that doesn't work then maybe try restoring.

I have the same problem with a non-jailbroken 3GS. I always put it down to the microphone being of poor quality (which it probably is), but it seems to be getting worse. I've tried cleaning without much success.
