I love these threads. These are the real burning issues of he day: fuck all that political stuff.

Hard to say. What habitat and are they face to face? Is it night or day?

Tiger would be faster and has better senses but are more suited to stealth attack If the tiger got in close, however, and gets a grip on the neck, it could be over for the gorilla but then again, the gorilla would have a very thick short neck so would be hard to get hold of unlike the longer, thinner necks of the ungulate prey that the tiger is used to.

If the gorilla got a quick blow in on the tiger with those arms, it's over.

On the balance, I would say the Gorilla would edge it.

The tiger-leopard comparisons are way off: the tiger is far bigger.

Gorillas can do fatalities, therefore they win.

i was thinkin the gorilla, cus it has essentially 4 arms, and also cus it has like armor on its front. AND ther really strong

I think you're confusing a gorrila with some sort of sci-fi battle droid.
A gorrila is basically like an Offaly man but slightly less hairy and with more people skills. It would most likely kick a tigers ass - now a grizzly bear, he'd teach that biffo gorrilla manners:D

TBH i would fancy a tiger to beat a grizzly bear

There's only one way to settle this. I'll meet Ye at the zoo in an hour. Someone bring a boltcutters and a leash.

the show about this is lol, I love it. The tiger lost to a lion and a bear in it.
IRL they used to fight bears vs bulls and in a fight of 20 bulls vs a bear it killed 19
then they brought lions against a bear and the bear didnt break a sweat.

a bears one and muscle density is 10 times ours, must have got their calcium

someone said tigers are only used to figting gazzeles or something!

there used to fighting other Tigers!!!

Anyway they have 3 killer weapons, there mouth and there 2 claws, the Ape would get slaughtered here!!

Its mouth is hardly killer and its not exactly a trained boxer!!

A gorrilla would be looking to grab and bite not throw punches and in that area he would be torn to shreds and most likely get his neck bit clean through.

    4 claws actually.
A classic feline attack is to grab hold with the front two paws and eviscerate with the two (more powerful) rear claws. It's such an ingrained form of attack that week old domestic kittens can do it.

And to all ye that are backing the gorilla, remember a tiger can pounce 30 feet, quite likely the gorilla wouldn't knew what hit him.

As much as I've enjoyed this thread, am I the only one who feels a little embarrassed. It's not exactly the loftiest discussion I've ever entered.

I can imagine my girlfriend reading it and saying " so this is how you spend your day".

The heavier animal will win 9 times out of 10.

    Tiger.

A gorilla would batter a tiger. They have massive upper body strength and big teeth.

Not a chance. The bear outweighs the cat by 30 to 150kg and pretty much the same weapons. Grizzlies and Polar bears, not much to beat them, maybe an elephant swinging a shark like a club.

But the claws are at the end of shorter limbs than the griller's, so it's not like the silverback is just gonna lie there and do nothing. He'll be busy punching the head off the cat, snapping his spine or throttling him.

Yea, there's not another animal in the world that could stand up to a grizzly, at least thats's what QI says, and as that's the source of almost all my knowledge - i am duty bound to agree!

I still reckon the tiger would need to be lucky and catch the gorilla just right, but once Mr Kong gets his big shovel hands on that tiger it's got to be game over.
The tigers game plan doesn't change, sneak up, ambush and bite the neck and hold on for dear life - but the tigers normal prey can't reach their neck to get the tiger off, cos they have 4 legs and no hands, the gorilla can counter-throttle the tiger while the tiger throttles it.
I reckon the gorillas neck is stronger than the tigers!

The only way a tiger would defeat a Gorilla would be if the Gorilla was drunk

We've had a good chat in the office here. I know only boardies really matter, but 4 more emphatic votes for the gorilla.

If the tiger goes for the throat and gets it first time it will win, however, there's a good chance it will miss and once the Gorilla has it in his hands it's curtains.

Wtf trained boxer? The average adult male mountain gorilla is probably something in the region of twenty times stronger than the best boxer in history at his peak. I don't think training really matters when you can pull the door off a car without breaking a sweat.

In close quarters the gorilla would flailing it's arms around all it would need to do is connect once to shatter the bones of the tiger in the area of it's body where struck. Gorillas are herbivorous so I don't see why it would use it's mouth in such a situation.

Nothing beats a grizzly in a fight to the death.

It probably would bite - part of its dominance display is showing teeth, ie it's showing it could fairly chow down on young males if they challenge a silverback.

Get a Gorilla bodyguard to stop the Tiger kidnappings? Good plan.

I'm pretty sure a peak Mike Tyson would punch harder than a bleeding Gorilla flailing its arms about!!

These strengths are greatly exaggerated that your using anyway..

Tiger would easily be as if not stronger than a Gorilla anyway.

No offense to people picking a gorilla but this is not even a fight.

The Gorilla would be dead within a minute.

Siberian Tigers regularly feed on Brown Bears, that's if the bear doesn't run away in time.

Of course it would, with jaw muscles that connect at the top of the skull.. it would take lumps of ya..

Grizzlys can grow bigger (kodiac bear), have much bigger neck and shoulder muscles and have way bigger claws. They'd destroy a polar bear
