I have an old shed on my land which has fallin into a bad state, I intended to put a new slate roof of this old shed and fit 2 Velux windows skylights in the new roof, Will I require Planning permission to do this in Rural Donegal?..
    Thanks

Is there a roof on it at the moment and will the rooflights be visable from the road? or is it a pile of stones and some bushes!!!. If its the former then you are most likely ok depending on what you use the shed for and the velux's are to the rear, if its the latter then I don't think so!!

There is a roof on it at the minute but the most of the roof has fallin through into the shed so need a complete new roof and perhaps some strenghting to the gabhels, The shed is about 40-50 feet from the main Road but to the rear of the shed there is a back road which has about 8 - 10 houses along it so even if i did put the velux's to the rear they would still be seen from this back road should this matter ? .

Its impossible to tell without seeing it, can you post some photo's showing the shed and the surroundings. I am assuming the shed is close to your house.

Think of it from an enforcement point of view.

Re-roofing the building, if you are replacing like for like, doesn't require planning permission (if you are not within the curtilage of a protected structure, etc.,) but, putting the roof windows in do need planning permission as you are changing a fundamental sapect of the structure.

    Just my view.
