Chainsaw carving

Any body out there chainsaw carving , I'm a chainsaw carver myself interested to talk to anybody carving or interested in the subject.

Hi Tallon thanks for the reply ,have plenty of photo,s will try and get some up . Where does your sister work from , would love to talk to her .

Just back from the Isle of Wight where I saw some impressive Wood Carvings. One was done on an old oak tree that had fallen. Rather than cut it down completely, the trunk was carved featuring the local red squirrels. The sculptor took a week to complete, and he was paid £1000 for doing it. Another one I saw was a trawlerman sitting and repairing a Lobster Net, again done by the same artist. Whilst the chainsaw would be useful to start these designs, I think that Arbortech Woodcarver Pro-4 would be useful. Arbortech also sell a Mini Carver. The Power Chisel would also be useful.

Yes there is money to be made when you get up to a good standard ,I agree the Arbortech is a great tool ,a lot of carvers have one in their kit . But you can't beat the chainsaw for removing wood quickly and also with the small blades now available you can do some really neat work when you get used to them .
I have just carved an 8ft totem pole for my garden ,it didn't take to long to carve but the painting has taken me much longer to complete.
