How near expiry of passport can you travel to Turkey

As per title, my passport expires in August, however im planning on going to Turkey the 11th of June, I know you need 6 months with spain, however do you need the same with Turkey?

I looked about the net but there are many conflicting statements.

Any help would be great

from what i know the 6 months rule is for 99% of places id say its a fair bet that you need it to be indate for the months!

However the UK FCO confirms that MUST have six months left on your passport.

the turkish embassy website should tell you but if not - youre always better safe than sorry

the an post passport renewal is speedy - might get it on time if you act asap ?

You do NOT need 6 months for any EU country with a EU passport. You can travel up until its expiry. You do need 6 months for turkey though.

My travel agent rang the Dublin Turkish embassy and they told her it was not required

Im reluctant to just believe that, because realistically that wont do me any favours if im stuck in turkey at passport control.

I see numerous mentions of a visa to be bought while there, does anyone that has been there before know if this actually happens?

I know this post is about travelling to Turkey but I went to Spain on the 10th May, returned on the 15th and my passport expired on the 21st. It was helpfully pointed out to me but there was no problem. At the moment it is languishing in the passport office - have used passport 'express' - and can only hope I'll have it back by July 13th when I'm going off again.

The visa is bought when you enter Turkey and costs 15 euro (Make sure you have 15 euro in notes) AFAIK if you give in 20 euro you will not get any change here have a look @ this site http://forum.kusadasi.biz/
