Mushrooms - love 'em or hate 'em

Seeing as there are a few fry - related threads on here, I thought I'd see where people stand on mushrooms.

Personally I can't abide the fuckin things, to me they just taste awful. So does anyone like them or not bothered?

Om nom nom nom. Especially the wild Mushrooms from the Polish mountains I get in Goulash. The Italian Porcini mushrooms not so much, but everything else, definitely.

Fantastic things. The wild ones that grow in early august are spectacular. Fried in some butter and thrown up on a slice of brown bread with the juices from the pan.

Mushrooms in sauces, quiches, stir-fries and the like - I absolutely adore them, and mourn the fact that it's so hard to get anything other than button mushrooms in Ireland.

Mushrooms drowned in fat for breakfast - hate them. There are very few more revolting things I've ever come across.

best invention ever! I used to get breakfast rolls in a crappy little petrol station in Blackpool, Cork, and the chicks behind the deli counter, pierced all over their face and rocking prams back an forth as they put the roll together, would ask, 'D'yawant mushrooms in dat Baiiii??'

All breakfast rolls should have the option of mushrooms as well. Ireland would be better off for it.

As a child I couldn't eat pizza because we got an Apache and the mushrooms on it where cut in half, black and moist, just like a dogs nose, it turned my stomach so much I didnt eat shrooms or pizza for years, now I eat both :cool:

The texture is the thing I can't stand when it comes to mushrooms. The smell and taste aren't much more appealing though.

I thought mushrooms were a love or hate thing- I'm surprised 2 people voted "indifferent".

They taste ok but the texture is horrible. Like I could drink mushroom soup or eat a mushroom flavoured sauce, but I'd never eat an actual mushroom. They're too.....rubbery or something,

So I'll go with "indifferent" I guess.

I have a similar problem with oranges, peppers and hazelnuts; taste is fine but texture is horrible.
