    The problem isn't drink - the problem is the Irish attitude to it, where it's somehow acceptable to some to say "I'm going out to get hammered" or "I can't remember how I got home"

    That f@@ked-up attitude isn't uniquely Irish, of course - a look across to UK TV will show that - but it is pretty clear that the stereotyped Irish does have more than a grain of truth while other cultures have some cop-on.
