Ireland - If alcohol didn't exist?

Imagine there's no.... alcohol. :eek:
I wonder what things would be like if alcohol just didn't exist, or any intoxicating drugs.
What would Ireland be like on a Saturday night?
I can't even imagine how things might be.
Would there be less people having sex without the booze or would everyone be at it to kill time:P
We'd all be mad tea and six sugars maybe.

Look at the prohibition of drugs. I would imagine it would be something like that.

Anyway, wouldn't bother me. As much as I love smoking the green stuff I could easily go without it all together.

Ye when you realize how much money you spent on drink it's rediculas

I remember spending 50-75% of my pay check on a few nights out a week or spending 100-200€ on a night out, crazy when you think back

hmmmm.....

the tax take would be a hell of a lot less, but then again, we wouldn't need the same amount of frontline services dealing with shenanigans every weekend. you wouldn't need the same amount of gardaí walking about towns at night patrolling the punters as they make their way home from an evening of friendly frolics, and hospitals could survive on skeleton staff overnight.

would it balance out?

If there was no alcohol, there would probably be no civilisation as we know it. Recent archaeological research is suggesting that one of the major factors in getting tribes to settle down and grow crops was ... beer.
