Hi, I have sky at home connected to my sitting room and upstairs I have a spare tv with nothing but built in Freeview at the moment i have rabbits ears in the aerial port which picks up the Irish channels digitally in surprisingly good quality.

What would happen if i was to run a cable from my satelite dish to this TV would i get any extra channels or improve on the existing channels' reception only?

    Hiya...

Well,,I don't think you would get anything plugging the cable straight in..Not from a sat dish anyway...You would need some sort of receiver/decoder. Then you would run your cable from the dish,to the box, then to the tv.

You could also get a Quad LNB,,and put a different box in the other room, for picking up all the free Channels.

If you do get a decoder..etc.....You'll end up with the BBC's,,ITV's..Channel 4,,Channel 5...A few movie channels...

Although,,you could get a "magic eye",via the RF outlet on the back of the sky box. But you would end up watching the same channels on both tv's.

Whatever forum this thread belongs in, its not Cable/MMDS/IPTV. After some consideration, I think Satellite is the best place for it.

you're mixing up freeview with freesat.

if you want to get extra channels using the sky dish, then you'll need a decoder, either a sky box or a freesat box.

On my tv there is an option for satellite or aerial. So may be possible. Sony 40"
