Of course everyone against the visit must be a retard?

Yes, of course they do this every week to their own city. Oh wait, maybe they don't. What could be different today?

    Don't think too hard.

I didnt realize the queen was using mind control to force them to riot.

How exactly is accepting that this visit is a positive step forward for relations between both nations anything to do with "cowardice and a cop-out"?

    1) "accepting" it's a positive step forward will be a possibility when it's proven that it is a step forward. You haven't done so. You've merely claimed this. Not the same thing - not at all.

    2) Following royalty is a "cop-out" and "cowardice" because people abnegate responsibility for changing their own lives and instead live them vicariously through "perfect" people and dream of being those "perfect" people. It's always the people who have least going for themselves who look up to royalty. "Hello!" readers and the like, in other words.

Yes, and pretty much everyone at those protests were junkies (hired perhaps?) and scumbags.

    Retard; To be held back.

It sounds like a perfect description

Bloody idiot 'protesters' on the news throwing fireworks at the Gardaí and vandalising their own city.

Ah yes the intellectual elite and erudite peaceful protestors making their case against monarchism, and well made it was too. :D Morons.

But you've certainly imagined it. Well done. Great achievement old chap.

Would not work on them, as they do not have a mind to control.

We have come so far that it makes me proud to see her here

    Me too.

Seeing her standing between two Irish soldiers (with their swords drawn) listening to the national anthems, i felt so proud.

    :o

    Sssshhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Jesus you are an idiot, its easier just to mock the appearance of the protesters in an ad hominem attack rather than consider that there may actually be an issue that they are píssed off about.

Sure werent they wearing Celtic jerseys and all junkies and jobless.

Nope, we're sure that they had well rounded, well thought out reasons to fling bottles and fireworks around the place. Very articulate when questioned about it too I'm sure.

Okay can we clear this up once and for all folks.

Unless you were there trying to burn flags or break barriers or moon the cameras...

...you have nothing to be ashamed of.

    Mmkay?

They are usually attacking and mugging Irish and foreign people, injecting heroin and making Dublin look like sh**. The usual routine.

Their are going to have some dilemma tomorrow. Do they continue with their "protest" over the visit or do they do some quality mugging and abusing of the 20,000 or so foreign fans coming over for the Europa league final?

Call me old fashioned but I'd have the decorum not to throw any countries flag into a bin, but especially not the flag of my own country.

For flip sake man, tell me what you would do with them! The only one clutching at straws is you completely ignoring the question.

Smacks of a hidden inferiority complex to be honest.

I ****ed up a crossword in the Stags Head today while flooring pints. Peacefully. No junkies interrupted me on my way there. A day free of boredom. HM should visit everyday, that way all the scumbags / freedom fighters will be on North Fred where I can easily avoid them.

Of course you don't. That's more than clear. The deep, explicit anti-Catholicism of the British monarchy still in 2011, its extraordinary record against the Irish people and much more - you don't have a problem with it. We are well aware of that. Sure, don't they look "pretty" and don't they have fascinating lives and don't you dream of being just like them. Isn't it a relief from the mundaneness of the existence of the average pleb, otherwise known as cowardice and a cop-out.

I'd have bigger issues with the Catholic church than the current British Monarchy. You make a lot of assumptions about people in your posts.

    1) International news reports on the British monarch coming to Ireland, having a pleasant few days and returning home will help dispel the myth abroad that were still somehow at war with Britain. Met plenty of people whos only knowledge of Ireland comes from bomb reports. Look at it any way you want its a step forward.

    2) The 85 year old lady who has had to spend most of the day on her feet being polite and pleasant and not yawning as I would in her place has nothing but my respect. And by nothing I would especially include any sort of jealousy. Dont bother thinking you know the thoughts of others.

If you read through he thread you will see that one poster saw a flag being taken.

The flags were being used as weapons against the Gardai on Dorset street. You can see that on the Six One news.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,735 ✭✭✭ShagNastii

By the same logic, I can't see the reason why they would dump any flags.

    you were there then ya?

Geeez I've read the thread. I must admit when I heard someone saw a guard taking someone's flag I was scratching my head. Why would they take a flag?

I was was only trying to retort your comment which I felt you were trying to highlight the Gardaí' lack of respect towards the flag. Bit crappy alright but it was extremely petty when today of all days, they (if anyone) are serving their country more than most.

Complain about the neanderthals throwing fireworks, distrurbing the peace and discarding the flag for disrepecting the tri-colour.

All the junkies only turned up out of spite, because they couldnt get to the boardwalk or Customs House to score the 'Birra Brown', so they thought they'd pop along to Dorset Street and make a rukus with the other useless eaters. I cringed watching them.

Would have loved to see a reporter ask some of them to go back through our history, bet they would have scuttled off like the roaches they are.

They may have had an issue that they were trying to expres. Unfortunately some scallywags decided to fight the gardaí instead of actually publicise their issues.
