And somehow it's OK for you to refer to it as a "republican" flag, thereby detaching it from all of the people of Ireland who detest everything that word has come to represent ?

But it is the flag of the Republic.. don't accost others because you yourself have allowed your definition of the word 'republican' to be altered by a violent few.

Hmmm, want too bad, GSTQ was a bit much though, those men did not fight and die to have that played while the freedom they fought for has still not been attained.

The reason the public can't see her is the reason she should not be here. It's premature and will do more harm than good locally.

Perhaps she should have put it off until her 140th birthday?

A majority of voters North and South seem content with the present conditions.

I keep wishing they had lip readers in RTE to see what Phil is saying... There's got to be some gold in there.

We are still a republic though.

We are. However because the word "republican" has been hijacked by those who wish to undermine said republic and go against the democratic will of the people, it's ambiguous and even more confusing to refer to something as "republican".

I occasionally use the word for both meanings, placing it in inverted commas when it's the bastardised version.

Other people don't, which makes it even more ambiguous than the word "Ireland". So having someone consciously replace a well-recognised "colloquial" word with an even more ambiguous one that has negative connotations which potentially leaves out the majority of actual Irish people is ridiculous.
