Went for a spin there yesterday with a few mates in Oughterard. When we got back to the car park we realised someone had somehow popped the lock on my van with a screw driver or something and had a good rummage around in it. All they got was my friends phone(only worth €20) and the €5 he had given me for diesel (oh and my central locking is now ****ed so I can't lock the van), luckily I had my wallet and phone with me on the trail. Other people I know were walking in the area and had their car broken into aswell.

Just thought I'd let ye know Might not be a good idea to leave valuables in your car and that!

This has become a real nightmare at the Wicklow car parks too - we park out on the main road in Djouce (or cycle up from Enniskerry) now because of all the break-ins in the carpark! For some reason the little ****s prefer to use a hacksaw blade slid up under the door to cut the central locking wires rather than just break a window which causes lots of really expensive damage! Maybe this how they got into your van and why your central locking isn't working?

There's a small round hole right by the lock on the passenger side, screwdriver was the first thing that popped into my mind when i saw it. THey got nothing more or less but the repairs will be a bitch and now i'm worried about parking there again.

It was really just a matter of time, your car is there for 2-3 hours, so they know you'll be gone. Its quiet enough too, so nobody to disturb them.

If it's happening often, might it be worth a voluntary sting operation? I'm not going to advocate violence so I'll say no more.
