    Exactly.

Shes welcome by some on here. In reality by the majority she is really not welcome.

You dont have to protest to oppose the visit.

In reality its only a very small minority of clowns like yourself that oppose the visit. They would be more in line to get a job than hanging around the streets of dublin making a nuisance of themselves.

The vast majority of people in the country either welcome her or just are not bothered. In general I would say the vast vast majority of the country just hopes it all goes well and nothing bad is attempted/happens.

If you’re so anti the Queens visit why don’t you make a placard and go out on the streets and protest – you’d soon find out one way or the other how popular your views were among ‘ordinary people’.
Still, it’s probably easier to sit anonymously in front of a computer and spew your bile around.
    Talk about barstool republicans.
You my friend are a muppet – and a cowardly one at that.

You can be opposed to the visit and not protest, do you not understand that ?

It's easy to sit behind your computer also, and cheer her on like a west brit with Anti Irish bile.

Go into your local pub with your rubbish, and see if you dont get a barstool over your head.

Quick question - why the **** is the British Queen laying a wreath "in memory of all Irish who have lost their lives in the fight for Irish freedom"?
Is it just me or is that highly insulting to us all? And don't even attempt to paint me as a 'looney republican' when I say this - how can she do that even though she and her army continue to occupy part of this Island?

I'm just looking for a rational debate here.

you must have been asleep during the Vote on the Belfast Agreement, the vast majority of the people in Ireland and Northern Ireland have said while the majority of Northern Ireland wish it so then it's okay for the British administration and army to be there.

So end of story or do you have a problem with democracy?

    **** the Queen

Shes not welcome here. And I'm glad, I hope she gets the message.

As somebody who is (a) Roman Catholic, (b) can speak Irish and (c) probably knows more Irish History than you do - I think you are a disgrace. I think it is a great honour to welcome the Queen of England to our shores, the same as it is a great honour the have the President of the United States, the President of France, the Chancellor of Germany, the Roman Catholic Pontiff etc. Granted, my religion has waned considerably in recent years, and I'm sceptical about many issues surrounding religion - I still respect the pontiff, the same way as I respect any other heads of state.

I believe it is a historical moment, and that we should hope to god that no idiots make a show of us - in any way, and disgrace us in front of the international community. What you think is your pride in your country is nothing but childish nonsense.

This is a good year for Ireland, the Queen of England and the President of the United States, both heads of state of nations we have much cultural and political links with will be visiting.

Also, please stop trying to portray yourself as a spokesmen like Ireland - and people like you, because to be honest you are nothing but an cartoonish embarrassment.

You wont get a proper answer here. This is just a cringeworthy cheerleading thread.

The two sides of the discussion seem more like:

"It's a disgrace, how dare she, off with her head".

    versus

"Mildly interested, good that this is happening peacefully"

No sign of any cheer leading.

Socialism and Communism are not the same thing. This is a misconception that so many people have. Communism doesn't work, socialism on the other hand can and does. We live in a social welfare state, for example. That is socialism in action - unemployment benefits, disability benefits, university grants, back to school allowances, the trade unions. I wouldn't want it any other way.

If it works, why are we skint?

    Great post.
Quick question though - why wasn't the same courtesy extended to Mary Robinson and our current (disgrace of a) President to visit the UK on a state visit?

Exactly. A number of people are always at pains on Boards to go on about how opposed to socialism they are - "bollocks" is what it got referred to as on the fee-paying schools thread. Well if a person thinks social equality is "bollocks" or "looney" it just goes to show what kind they are: selfish, greedy, compassionless, etc. Thank **** for the welfare state.

Where did he "cheer her on like a west brit with Anti Irish bile" ?

I wouldn't "cheer her on", I wouldn't go see her, I wouldn't really care if she never came, but for some reason those opposed to the visit choose to write off any such views as if they were the above rubbish.

There aren't two "sides" y'know.....some of us are far more balanced and sensible.

Go into my local pub in Stoneybatter with your rubbish and see if you don't get ignored and/or laughed at.

I would say you would get a barstool over your head just as quick the many conversions I have had in pubs on the subject have been mainly people hoping nothing bad happens and makes a disgrace of the country. Accepting the visit and looking on the positive side of it does not equal cheering her on or being anti Irish.
