Connolly thought that socialsim would work and look how that ended up. He was a loon.

I don't want to drag the thread off-topic, but would you care to explain what the above means ?

I have no self-loathing or inferiority whatsoever, but I'd like to hear what makes you incorrectly assume that I have.

The majority of Irish people probably don't know or care who James Connolly is.

Republicans greatly over-estimate their own relevance and the relevance of their beliefs to the population at large.

You do realise people look at these views the same way they look at the westboro baptist church.

Show us where 'people' say that would you? Please.

Nope. Completely irrelevant to my life. It's 2011, i care little for what some ancient corpse had to say.,

Very short sighted and idiotic view, to discount a view because it was expressed 100 years ago leaves you with very little to draw from.

What the hell are you talking about?

Views that information on terrorist and British collusion should be released to help the familes of victims.

Nobody looks at those views that way, except the likes of you with no knowledge behind a computer screen.

You really are the stereotypical West Brit, even from South Dublin...

Do you have an English/American fake accent?

Did you not go to school?

Would explain quite a lot, actually.

I welcome the visit as it should improve relations between the countries and we can move on from the past.

I certainly won't be waving british flags and I wouldnt like god save the queen to be played over here, but hopefully this can mark a new beginning and help with the peace process, unification of north and south ireland and stop any hostilities between us.

It's a shame that armchair republicanism still exists here and begrudgery because of mistakes in the past...:(

I turned it off after 10 seconds. Just a back slapping session for the West Brits with their fake English accents. They are ashamed to be from Ireland and wish they were born across the water.

They are not representative of the normal Irish person.
    All cringeworthy stuff.

In fairness, he didn't say he was going to protest.

    He did.
    Thinks kicked off tonight

If the British officers get shoot Irish people . I've been out protesting last 4 days, we need back , their is not enough people if things kick off

But he's just a troll trying to be controversial, probably a re-reg...

Just tried to have a look at O'Connell street out of curiosity and it seems that all city centre webcams have been disabled for security reasons.

    For example: http://my.liveireland.com/page/webcams-1

    OTT much?

I'm glad she's here if only to enjoy all the moaning from people who are trying to find a way to object to her visit without actually coming out and saying they hate the Queen.

Yes they are. The majority of people are looking forward to the visit. The Royal Wedding was widely watched over here. "the normal Irish person" likes the Royals.

Had he and the others not been executed, they would have ended up killing each other anyway, as they all had different viewpoints on what they wanted Ireland to be after independence.

oh to hell with James Connolly a goddamn socialist union man
We have enough problems with unions today we dont need the past from 100 years ago dragged in too!!

Simply because we are Irish we shouldnt have to be socialists or believe in their way of thinking!

The 1916 thing had no mandate, after general elections in 1918 there was a democratic mandate with a clear overall majority. The Provos never had a mandate and were never accountable to the people and went off blowing up shopping centers robbing racehorses and banks and taking people hostage. SCUM.

The treacherous Eirigi weirdos are completely out of touch with the beliefs of Irish people. Most people welcome this visit.

I see the monarchy as a throwback to medieval times - something that is totally out of date the British should get rid of it, elect a president and if they want keep it for the tourists. Nevertheless this is a significant event in Irelands history. It buries the past despite so many weirdos wanting to dig up the corpses of Connolly etc to throw at people who want to move on

To be honest its a bit tiring the hole matter more than half the people giving out can be seen wearing man u, liverpool, arsenal jersey they read the sun ans the star and shop in tesco's... And there to stupid to realise this...

Nah, your information is a little out of date there.

The figure is 3.2bn in pounds and 4bn in euros as I said.

We also got money from two other non-Euro countries (Sweden and Denmark I think) which brought the total bilaterla loans to approx 7bn euros.

Shes clearly not welcome, members of the public arent allowed within 5 miles of her.

Says it all, if she was really welcome she could at least acknowledge her unionist followers etc.

This is a proper welcome of a far more important figure. He really was welcome by everyone.

Wouldn't quite go that far.......she's an archaic irrelevancy from an oppressive system where people were elevated because of their birthright, and I can't see the appeal of Royal Weddings and OK magazine spreads.

But that's just a general "hate people being feted & worshipped for who they are/how much money they have" instead of "celebrated because of what they do".

Murder and intimidation don't come into that equation, though. I just switch off and ignore pointless "celebs" in general.

I don't venerate her. I don't care either way to be honest any more than i would for any other visiting head of state,

Typical vacuous, infantile, uneducated nonsense. "Im too stupid to pay attention in school, to bother to know or understand anything about my own history, or about politics, or to hold my own opinion on anything and I reject the opinions of everyone from a "previous era" (does this include Plato, Einstein and Martin Luther King also btw?)" and not only that, I wear my ignorance like badge of honour.

What an embarrassment the servile, pathetic population of this country is.

How do the nationalists manage to be nationalist when surrounded by such idiots?

This is complete nonsense. I have no problem with the Queens visit and I think it may help the tourism industry via the free advertising this trip will bring but to say that the normal Irish person likes the Royals is ridiculous!

I would say that the majority dont mind the visit and can see some benefits but (like myself) think that Monarchy is completely outdated and that an unelected Head of State being born into "power" is something that should be consigned to the past

I am referring to the constant attempts on this thread and others to stereotype objectors. That comes from deep rooted inferiority, you people make no attempt to understand, your derision is a blanket, you are embarassed by the actions of Irish men and women.

From inferiority comes self loathing or vice versa.
