Apparently she's a sucker for the old leyland 48 seaters...

Everyone CALM DOWN and look at the facts.

If it is a bomb(I would be surprised)

Its on a bus. This rules it out it being a large bomb.
That also pretty much rules out any complex detonator, ie timer, remote detonation etc.
Which means its probably a pipe bomb.
Which are generally light a fuse or short timer jobs.

Now, why would they bomb a bus?
To get the queen? Would have to be a spectacular to have any chance. As I already said this is not the case, if it is a bomb it is small.
Now why would they want to kill people on a bus?

    Simple answer, they wouldn't.

    I agree with your sentiment.

Except for the logic that a bomb being on a bus would have to be small. The one outside Newry the other week was 500 lbs and it was in a van.

But I do agree, calm down people. The police have it sectioned off so it'll be under control if it does turn out to be a bomb (which it probably won't).

Id imagine its just the guards not willing to take the slightest chance with anything, would be genuinely suprised if whatever it is was actually viable. Someone prob left a bag behind which someone then only noticed a while later.

Its made for an exciting night in north kildare ill admit though!

Doesn't matter where bombs explode/bomb scares are during this visit. One could go off in the arsehole of Leitrim and the headlines will read along the lines of bomb goes off during queens visit. If i was them my tactics would be to call in as many bomb threats as possible as spread out as possible as they all have to be responded to. And throw in some actual device in every odd one. That will stretch the resources of the gardaí out over a wide area and may create a lapse in security elsewhere. That could be what's going on here.

Do they get any kind of instructions about checking out their buses before heading out? I'm sure he'll be safe.

Im sure no one would notice some lad carrying a 500lb bomb onto a bus

Doesn't seem like a waste of time. Looks like you got to try out some quality drugs recently.

Sorry think I missed a few details. Do we know that the bus driver noticed this object on his last route or whatever? Do we know that it wasn't lying empty for a while?

Sorry, I thought it was just a suspicious object on a bus at this stage. Which could be anything.

No, its like watching a car crash, or something like that. Not nice but you cant really look away.

Know what you mean, think nearly everybody just wants the bloody thing over at this stage, with as little incident as possible.

Still, any little protest will be focussed on. Thinking of the 30/40 SF protester's marching on the Dail last year and endless replays on Sky!

As for twitter agree, many a twit on it, facebook is worse!

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

I certainly hope everything goes by peacefully... This was such a stupid idea deep down everyone had to know this would happen.

God I remember that, "Irish parliament stormed" and it was a few lads and a TD walking in a gate.

Not to dismiss your fears for your brother, which must be awful, but terrorists/freedom fighters generally don't care who gets caught in the middle. If they feel they need to kill a busdriver to get their point across they will.

They value the concept of united Ireland higher than my life, your life, my brother's life or your brother's life, but there you go, we're cannon fodder to them.

To what extent should we be dictated to by fascist thugs threatening violence? I don't think there is a particularly good argument against this visit, save bar the cost and the inconvenience, but to suggest that we should be influenced by those who threaten violence is most certainly not one. And a pretty dangerous road to be going down.

Just reported on BBC "viable device was destroyed on bus in Maynooth" by controlled explosion.

Yeah and I have to get from fcuking Dundalk first and I haven't slept yet. PITA.

BBC saying another device has been found somewhere. FFS.

Anyone know what the story is about protests etc. today? Planning on walking a loop path to stay away from the Parnell St. area, if there's much protesting already planned I think I'll increase the radius of the loop.

Jaysus, one bomb in Maynooth, on a public bus FFS! Now another one found in Dublin.

This could turn out to be a day of shame.
