Don't have to return like with like, for example if I was on duty and you threw stones at me and threatened to breech a security fence I'd return fire - with bullets!.

    Bloody Sunday anyone ?

You could say the same about Turkey but we don't give a **** about Turkey.

Fair point, but I think that not caring at all is a bit much. There's a pretty strong reaction to the notion of Turkey being permitted EU entry, and the general trend for HR violations which were of major concern has been downward.

If children were injured or even killed it's their parents who are to blame

What parents brings children to rush a checkpoint?

And with the borders being breached in three different areas it seems there may have been planning and coordination to this. Or maybe it was spontaneous anger erupting
Either way, children should be nowhere near a checkpoint or in an angry crowd

Even with no response from the IDF, children are easily hurt if a crowd surges forward

Plus there is a state of emergency in the police state that is Syria these days - if the Syrians want the Golan breeched let them have the balls to do it themselve and stop sending children to do the dirty work for them.

I doubt the Syrians were behind it. They've been negotiating on it in relative secrecy for the last few years, and are not far off an agreement. Its not in their interests. I'd imagine the only reason they got that far is that theres been redeployment to bump off internal dissenters.

Irish law states that you are allowed to take reasonable measures to protect your home.If a bunch of travellers came and started trying to overrun and fling rocks at your home. Would you not be entitled to defend it??Is this not what Israel are doing?

Shower of fúcking scumbags. No doubt they'll pull the antisemitism card once other countries condemn the attack.

Reasonable measures doesn't include killing 12 people, if you did that you'd be serving 12 counts of murder.

As regards the Lebanese side, you could argue that. Golan is occupied territory, however, as is the West Bank. Do you agree the Palestinians have a right to resist the occupation?

And do the Israeli's not have a right to resist occupation of Israel??

What if it was 12 travellers that came and attacked your home with rocks??

Occupation of Israel? Israel are occupying Palestinian lands that were never granted to them in the original allocation of land.

Once again I'll say it, whether they're travelers, Palestinians or wealthy upper class members throwing the rocks if I returned fire on them under Irish law and killed all 12, I'd be serving 12 sentences for murder.

I just conceded that with regards to the Lebanese border area involved, though the level of force seems the usual overkill.

Would you care to answer my quesion now?

Depends. Have I gone around bulldozing the home of said travellers. Have I also denied them basic amenities and robbed them of any chance of a decent and productive future so that I may profit at their expense through use of force and arms?

Nodin Israel believes the land was promised to them by god.

The Palestines believe it is their religious right to occupy Israel.

Depending whos side you are on, i guess you will believe their tale

I wasn't referring to the Bible or religous claims. You stated
Irish law states that you are allowed to take reasonable measures to protect your home.If a bunch of travellers came and started trying to overrun and fling rocks at your home. Would you not be entitled to defend it??Is this not what Israel are doing?

The West Bank, Arab East Jerusalem, the Golan and Gaza are outside the state of Israels international legal borders. Based on what you stated, I'm asking you if you think that its fair enough that Palestinians resist the occupation of those areas.

Sorry but... perhaps tells a more objective story.

    I

It takes a concerted attempt to breech Israel's border's, and who the hell but a Palestinian would bring a child to a border incursion.

    Incursion???

    It was a peaceful protest.

Israel just likes murdering innocent civilians, its their national pastime.

Highly unlikely as both sides believe themselves to be right in their claim. Israel is the subject of anti-semetic hatred amongst its neighbours, who would happily like to make it disappear. Whilst I don't condone the deaths, as I wouldn't any other war deaths, I hope it delivers a message to Palestinian headbangers to back the fcuk off

CrackisWhack - Seems to me thats all the Israeli's want to do. Its not them who are goingin throwing stones at Palestine youths in fairness

Nodin - I realise that, but hadnt the Palestines attacked the Border??

Well, I would think Israel has been the main aggressor, look at the maps linked by memnoch, The Israeli's would be happy to wipe the Palestinians off the face of the earth. The Palestinian state is being squeezed into a smaller and smaller area year after year.

Gaza is now one of the most densly populated areas in the world now, people are living like sardines in a tin now.

In Israels case, they have taken over Palestines house: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nakba. The Palestinians have been cooped up in the cupboard under the stairs and are fighting back with whatever they can. To use your analogy.

Recently, Israel declared it illegal for Palestinians to have a day of rememberance of the 1948 takeover of Palestine by Israel:

If a first world nuclear power has its troops out chucking stones, I'd start drinking bottled water.

Yes, I conceded that re lebanon, but firing live rounds at them strikes me as the usual overkill. Can you answer my question?

Self defence, whether protecting your home or defending your country in international law has to be proportional to the threat faced. Can't see how people reason that those throwing stones should be shot.
