In different situations, a different screed will be better,

    so it depends

both provide the same function, so which is 'better' than the other depends on the situation its used in.

the sand and cement screed is the industry standard and can be used in most situations.

Liquid screeds are self-levelling so are used in situations where levelling teh screed would be difficult ie over very large spans etc.
Also liquid screeds tend to be thinner in application so suit situations where there are height restrictions.

If they crack thats a resultant of a human error, not the product. Ask the manufacturer what the recommendation application process is for your particular situation.

As far as UFH goes, again they both provide the same funcition ie to act as a storage mass for the heat.
