What would Ireland be like if the UK didn't exist?

A bit more isolated and self sufficient maybe like Iceland? Certainly a more interesting place to visit anyway I reckon but the economy would never have been as strong

Since we have a unique inability to think for ourselves, which country would we look at to copy their laws, shops, tv shows and ideas from? Holland, France, Belgium?
