Fun top 10 list on Destructoid. Some of the levels on this list just give me chills thinking about them. Not sure about the #1 entry though (never played it). Some of the levels on Yoshi's Island 2 on the DS should have made this list (I never actually finished that game).

I also didn't think the star world levels on Super Mario World were *that* hard. They just took patience. Outrageous (#3 on the list) is a level where you can get tons of free lives with a star powerup and running through lots of wigglers.

Any obvious ones missing from that list?

Meh the Mario Galaxy and Sunshine levels really just require a bit of patience. And anyway the Mario Sunshine level where you guide the leaf to get the red coins should be on there instead. The mario 1 and lost levels would be what make sup the entire list really. Super Mario World levels have no right to be there. those bonus yoshi's levels are tough but not anywhere near as tough as those two games.

A good idea for a top ten list. I haven't played all of those levels though. I never made it to the end of Mario Galaxy and I've only played the first few minutes of Sunshine. I just can't get into 3D Mario games.

But they left out level 9-7 in New Super Mario Bros. Wii. I'm not sure how many goes it took me to beat it but suffice to say it was a lot.

Any of the later pure-platforming parts from Super Mario Sunshine. Especially the likes of the water launcher level, which requires so much precision, you'd almost pause and ponder whether your efforts'd be better spent elsewhere.

Stone Cyclone from Mario Galaxy 2 as well, took me upper of thirty shots to even get my placing and then double that to clear the beast.

Agreed. Struugling to get the comet coin on stone cyclone galaxy right now. Bit of a head wrecker alright.

What was that level in mario sunshine where the pianta lads were chucking you around the place. Remember getting very angry playing that.
