Do you like Solicitors? ... do you think they are scum?

Came into contact with solicitors last year (hands on judgement type of thing) and no nothing to do with me personally :pac: over another issue.

But in my personal view I think alot of Solicitors are ... quite frankly scum. Sure, knew it for years. But as I say, hands on experience weighs more.

Am I alone in my thoughts that they are just deceptive, lack of morals, money grabbing ... scum I guess.

Some are good, some are not.

    Like everything else.

But don't let that stop you adding a new profession to the funeral pyre of the Celtic Tiger. There aren't enough figures of hate already.

I think that 99.999% of the legal profession give the rest of them a bad name.

Almost as bad as public sector workers.
    But not quite.
Worse than the foreigners though, just about. Unless it's a foreign solicitor who works for the state prosecution service. shudder.

    Hilarious.

They are greedy, jealous backstabbers. It's not a profession for nice people.

best way to describe it I think.
I personally think that if I come into contact with a solicitor, in any form, I'd be wary.

Like you cant manipulate, defend clearly guilty people (no matter how serious) and then still be a "great person"

Yeah I like my solicitor, she is an absolute rottweiller.
Which is good for me because she is so good.

I think it's a profession that, for the most part, you have to act like a dick to get forward. But there still are some good ones out there.

There wouldn't be a need for as many solicitors if everyone obeyed the law, e.g. pay up when you owe someone money for work done, no public drunkenness, theft, etc.

I don't see why they are needed when buying a house; that has gone down the tubes for them now.

Everyone can write their own still as well

A solicitor that can make you loads of money out of a personal injury claim is good, one that is after your blood in a law suit is bad. Swings and roundabouts with them.

Do you wish to back that up ?

Or can I take it that this is just a raging case of the "Green Eyed Monster" ?

In general, the more of an ass you are, the better you do as a solicitor. If you want a nice one look for a poor one, but if you want a good one then you're going to need an asshole.

I don't like the solicitors that wear white shiny tracksuits and tuck them into their white shiny socks. Briefcase sporting tw@ts!

Not always. When a thief steals your van at night after drinking in the pub and then crashes into somebody, serioulsy injuring them, and you get sued, then you realise that it isn't good for everybody.

I would disagree. I would be considered quite a nice person and I'm hoping to be a solicitor in a few years.

Also I know quite a few solicitors at the moment. The vast majority would be lovely people that I enjoy talking to and are always nice and helpful to me.

Yes you will always get the arrogant ones, my law class has shown me that, but you will get that in every single profession that there is
