Copying songs from ipod.. But keeps saying ipod not connected

I'm selling my ipod touch but want to copy all the music from it. I downloaded iDump but it said my ipod was not connected. I have the ipod set to manual mode... So i downloaded yamipod and it again says ipod not connected. Whats going on ? How can i get my songs off ?
