New Samsung LE40C530 but 'pixel-ated' images?

    Hi,
I bought a new Samsung LE40C530. I have UPC Recroder box connected to it via a basic scart plug. The UPC is a small mesh dish on the chimney.

Sometimes the screen gets a bit pixel-ated and not just when watching sports.
I phoned UPC and they said they could re-send the signal. But the problem still exists.
Any idea how I can fix this? Should I buy a 'fancy'/more expensive scart cable? Or anything else?

    Cheers,
    Pa.

SCART is an analogue signal so the pixelation isn't coming from it ! Certain channels on UPC and Sky are sent at low bit-rates resulting in the pixelation you describe. If you had a smaller TV previously then you may not have noticed it !! Your new TV is a 40 inc, very unforgiving if the signal is substandard or of low bit-rate.

MPEG compresses video signals. Something has to be sacrificed and it's always definition. A couple of things to check first though.

Is the UPC box set to output Widescreen 16:9 and is the TV set to display this mode ?

Have you enabled any ZOOM feature on the set to get rid of the black bands top and bottom that might have been visible ?

Are you getting a good signal to the UPC box ? There should be a signal strength display somewhere in the box's menus.

    Ken
