This device can be considered the ultimate in recycling. A toilet , popular in parts of India, where the pigs get to feast on - yes... you're guessed correctly.

Those of a delicate constitution may wish to avoid this thread. Has anyone else encountered such a commode on their voyages?

Those who enjoy consuming bacon - possibly tomorrow as part of a fry up to soak up tonight's alcoholic indulgences - may want to reconsider eating pork products from Goa.

Puts the phrase "making a pig of yourself" in a whole other light.

bacon used to be crispy brown coming to the end of cooking it, but it has white scum slipping around it while cooking so i'm off bacon. join the puke clan..

I wish every thread was entitled 'the pig toilet'...

sigh... *stares whistfully towards the horizon*

Used one in Goa a long time ago. The outhouse was in a smallish field with a gate. When you opened the gate the pigs would hear and there would be a mad rush of pigs to the end of the chute, all jockeying for pole position.

That is caused by added water

I can't see the harm in it - its organic and it doesn't endanger the pigs or the humans.

The white scum that comes off the rashers an earlier poster mentions is a cocktail of water and chemicals which are injected into bacon during factory processing. I would prefer the organic version which is less likely to poison you and more likely to taste better.

You people are just too used to your modern ways - off to Tesco and buy your breakfast while I go outside and collect some fresh eggs from my henhouse.

Nothing new about that, people have been eating pork made from human shit since we first domesticated pigs.
Off now for my sunday rashers and sausages, nom nom :pac:

Well, my stumbling across the description of a pig toilet was almost enough to put me off pork and bacon for life.*

*Almost, but not quite enough mind. I shall abstain from eating pork if I happen to be in India though.

Based on a one line Wikipedia article with dodgy reference links. A pig, or any other domesticated animal, will not eat human feces.

I wonder would pig toilets take off in a country devoted purely to environmental sustainability?

It's the ultimate form of recycling...

Ah ha! I knew there was something to people having pigs as pets. You feel like a crap, but don't want to march up stairs.......here piggy piggy. If he gets in there close enough, you mightn't even smell it.

My first thoughts were that this was another Garda thread! :pac:

You'd end up with some very sick TPs if they were ever used here.
Poor things wouldn't survive very long after a few Guinness, peanut & curry meals (if that's the right word).

Apparently where toilet pigs are still used, the meat of the toilet pigs is particularly valued and savoured. Yeeurch!!:(

We used to get fantastic pork and bacon from a small piggery years ago, not sure what they were feeding them maybe it was something similar.
The place closed down after the owner went missing, he had an odd nickname, brick top or something like that.

Are the pigs eating their own sh1t?

Surely that has to have some sort of knock on effect to the quality/standard of the meat. Just like feeding bone-meal to cattle in the 1990's sparked off the mad-cow disease scare.

No, the toilet pigs consume human excrement. Thus the problem of human waste is resolved.
