Google street view nightmare places.

I took a google street view "virtual stroll" around Clarina park, limerick and was absolutely amazed at how bad the place is. It seems a bit clichéd to compare bad areas to war-zones but the comparison seems apt in this case. Every second house looks like it has been hit by a cruise missile. Burnt out cars and rubbish litter the green spaces. Its so bad even when you're taking a virtual tour you feel in danger.

Has anybody come across any worse places in Ireland? Places that are so bad you'd only ever want to see them through street view?

I heard the Google street view vehicle had to get an army escort when it was doing the imaging there.

Its weird that you have all the houses smashed up, burned out and completely ruined then a nice house with electric gates nice cars outside it and not a bit of graffiti on it stuck in the middle! I wonder where they get all the money from?

There are a few places like that in Dublin maybe not just as bad prob because of the re-gen projects in the likes of Ballymun, but this problem is all caused by bad planning of putting all the bad eggs in one area and creating a Ghetto!

And that the army escort needed UN peacekeepers...

Is it me or is there a house missing here? . . .

Clarina Park certainly is not ageing well.

God, that's grim. What it would do to you to have to live there..

I had a look at Clarina Park, I'd say there is high unemployment there. They should be made to clean the place up, paint, a few skips and a lawnmower would go a long way

I've never seen so many boarded up houses like that in estates around here. It's sad to see. Most of the houses look fine though, nicely painted etc.

Wow. You can pretty much pick out the dealers houses on street view.

Seriously though, why does this place even exist? Those houses don't look too old or anything. What the **** happened?

I've lived in some dumps but that's just beyond anything I've ever seen. What the fuck sort of society allows places like that to exist? We have money for banks and bailouts but no money to allow people live with even the smallest modicum of dignity. It's disgusting. It should be razed and decent housing put in it's place.

A minority will wreck the place for the rest anyway? Give them a steel bar and they will break just to be little pr!cks.

    You are right.

In that case you need a police force who are capable, properly resourced and unafraid to do their jobs. You also need laws that are tough and actually preventative instead of purely reactive. Our police force isn't up to much and our legal system, which seems to have a problem with actually punishing people who break the law, is a joke.

Either that or an up to date physics book.

Actually, it would be fun to see if anybody could come up with a worse street than the one there in Limerick. I've been scanning around Finglas and Neilstown in Dublin and can't find anything that compares.

Once I ended up in St Marys Park Limerick (just off the N7 by St Johns Castle) when trying to find a shortcut (little did I realise its a dead end peninsula design), I was happy enough to leave. There is no google street view for that estate.

Are the areas where 'The Wire' is set still blocked on street view?

I actually lived there for two months a couple of years ago. Definite post-zombie apocalypse vibe around the place.
